We were denied the fight we should have seen. Bernie Sanders VS Donald Trump

How do you promote health to the sick without providing care?

1-promoting general welfare is a function of government, it does not guarantee it, just gives the government the right to perform that function. so even if you were to tie "general welfare" to universal healthcare, it would still not be a human right

2-ways that you can promote public health without tax-paid healthcare for everyone
preven unacceptable pollution into air and drinking water
public sanitation/sewage system
etc.

Define 'rich people'

Are you retarded? Or you just want to play semantic games because you have no point? Why don't you give your definition of "rich people". Im sure the spin will be laughable.

No 'General Walfare' is NOT a codeword for 'healthcare and whatever else we decide it means'.

Just like how "A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed." somehow equates to a retarded nutjob buying a shotgun at Wal-mart with his Cheetos right?

Glad to see your totally consistent on this.

No no, defend your point. Who is the 'rich' in your eyes? Millionaires? Billionaires? $100,000? Defend yourself

Wow...a Young Turks talking point...no wonder you are stupid.

So let me ask you. Do you think after separating from British Rule that they defined as tyranny that the people who wrote the constitution wanted government to regulate the right to arms for the people? Or maybe...your Cenk Uygur education of the Constitution is complete BS?

Ive already made my point. You are trying to distract from it with your "define rich people" comment. We all know what I meant when I said that. How can Mur-ka call itself the greatest country in the world when lesser countries have better health care? Ill await your well-thought out, non-BS answer.

Is English not your first language? What is the actual question hidden in this abysmal run-on sentence in which I have no idea WTF you are saying????o_O

A better question over the 2nd would be, have you heard of heller vs DC; where the SCOTUS says the 2nd declares an individual right of the people to keep (buy) and bear (carry) arns that are in common use (military/militia etc) for their own defense from domestic and foreign threat?

Just thought of something, if Republicans had been the ones to introduce single payer healthcare, would it have been attacked as a tax cut on corporations?

Right now, my employer pays a significant part of my healthcare, more than I pay I believe. Under single payer, companies would no longer have to pay for their employees healthcare. ALL of the health care money would be coming out of the people's raised income tax now I believe.

How is that not saving companies money and shitting on the working class?

I remember when people were talking about foreign companies having an edge because the govt subsidized the insurance.

Looking at what my company pays for mine, I'd think they'd prefer that to a tax cut.

You clearly don't understand how rights are defined in our founding documents.

Rights are things people are born with, that don't require someone else to give to you. Healthcare requires someone else providing it for you, so it can not be a right.

This is not something that's disputable, Ruth Bader ginsberg had said she wished our constitution was like the South African one, which says the government provides rights, that way the government could make more things rights, but it doesn't, so the gov cant

You're not born with any rights. All our rights are social constructs based on our society.

It's not shitting on the working class at all, but, yeah, it could be seen as a tax cut on corporations (though Bernie's campaign proposal--more detailed than this--included an employer-side payroll tax that addresses this issue). We should cut taxes on corporations anyway.

Anyway, the obsession with single payer as such is bullshit symbolism. The goal should be universal, affordable care for everyone, and single payer is just one way to get that. And I'm concerned that the push for it could lead to undeliverable promises and regression. And the framing of the issue by the left is ridiculous--people act like it's universally agreed that it's a good plan, but some evil politicians are bought off by healthcare companies to evilly block it. In fact, the real political issue is that a lot of American voters don't want it.

Bernie Sanders Once Kicked Out Of A Hippie Commune For Not Working

Sen. Bernie Sanders was once so work-shy, he got kicked out of a hippie commune in 1971 for avoiding duties and distracting residents.

So says the forthcoming book “We Are As Gods” by Kate Daloz, which documents the story of the Myrtle Hill Farm commune in northeast Vermont.

The Vermont senator and presidential candidate visited the farm in 1971 for research purposes. The 30-year old Sanders was writing an article on natural childbirth that appeared in a newsletter for the Liberty Party Union’s magazine Movement.

“Endless political discussion,” and a distaste for work allegedly resulted in Sanders being asked to leave the commune, according to a report from The Washington Free Beacon.

“Daloz writes that one resident, Craig, ‘resented feeling like he had to pull others out of Bernie’s orbit if any work was going to get accomplished that day,'” reports The Washington Free Beacon.

When someone has to go as far back as 40 years to criticise someone they can't be doing that badly.

and if you think im making up him writing rape fantasy

http://www.npr.org/sections/itsallp...e-bernie-sanders-rape-fantasy-essay-explained

dude would get crushed if anyone ran an attack campaign on him, hillary didnt because she had it rigged anyways, but he never got attacked like other candidates, so most people dont realize how many things he would get wrecked over

Dude, a reality TV star, who is in a recording saying grab them by the pussy is president. No one cares about the non-sense anymore. People are either rooting for their team, or care about actual policy.

Glad to see you're now wearing your true conservative heart on your sleeve.

Anyway, the obsession with single payer as such is bullshit symbolism.

Spoken like someone who has never seen someone they love have problems choosing between their hospital bill and their rent. You know just because you make something up doesn't mean it's true.

The goal should be universal, affordable care for everyone, and single payer is just one way to get that.

It also happens to be the best way.

And the framing of the issue by the left is ridiculous--people act like it's universally agreed that it's a good plan, but some evil politicians are bought off by healthcare companies to evilly block it.

If you want to equate greed with being morally evil then sure I agree. Money in politics absolutely decides what a politician is and isn't going to fight for.

How much Democrats who oppose single-payer are paid by the healthcare industry

A number of high-profile Senate Democrats have voiced their support for Bernie Sanders’ “Medicare for all” bill that he unveiled on Wednesday, but some establishment Democrats have been reluctant to do so.

According to OpenSecrets.org, Kaine — who said he at least would welcome Sanders’ bill to the floor for debate — has already received more than $39,000 between 2013-2018 from health insurance giant Centene Corporation, which has an anti-single payer superdelegate on its board who brushed off the idea at a recent company forum.

And according to FollowTheMoney.org, Kaine has received a total of $1,377,176 in contributions from the insurance industry, $1,125,796 from the health services industry, $1,364,525 from the pharmaceutical and health products industry, $2,306,155 from health professionals, and $1,965,540 from hospitals and nursing homes.

McCaskill, who said she would not be supporting Sanders’ bill, is also connected to Centene, which has contributed $99,670 to her coffers from 2013-2018. In fact, the health insurance firm is her top contributor for that time period.

From 2011-2016, records show that McCaskill received $81,058 from Express Scripts — and more than $150,000 overall — which is the largest pharmacy benefit managementorganization in the country. In other words, the company oversees prescription drug programs for health plans, including MediCare.

Regarding its political donations, Express Scripts has noted that “Contributions are disbursed according to the following criteria…Has the candidate voted for or announced positions on issues important to Express Scripts and our plan sponsors and patients?…Has the candidate demonstrated leadership on key committees of importance to our business?” The company has largely favored Republicans over Democrats.

According to FollowTheMoney.org, McCaskill has received $212,108 from the insurance industry, $94,458 from health services, $242,567 from health professionals, and $282,120 from hospitals and nursing homes.

Schumer has raked in a whopping $932,055 in contributions from the insurance industry, though his larger donors in that category are from the life insurance sector. But Schumer has also received $493,861 from health professionals, $436,725 from hospitals and nursing homes, and $411,650 from the pharmaceutical and health products industry.

You can keep playing dumb as fuck for as long as you would like to. But it just means that you are willfully turning a blind eye to how
politics actually works and why our system is so corrupt. The corporate con job is real and you're not even half as smart as you like to come off as if you can't see that.

the real political issue is that a lot of American voters don't want it.

Turns out it's more popular than it ever has been. You're stuck in the past Jack. It's funny how you love evidence until it goes against your biased narratives.

Public support for ‘single payer’ health coverage grows, driven by Democrats

A majority of Americans say it is the federal government’s responsibility to make sure all Americans have health care coverage. And a growing share now supports a “single payer” approach to health insurance, according to a new national survey by Pew Research Center.

Currently, 60% say the federal government is responsible for ensuring health care coverage for all Americans, while 39% say this is not the government’s responsibility. These views are unchanged from January, but the share saying health coverage is a government responsibility remains at its highest level in nearly a decade.

Among those who see a government responsibility to provide health coverage for all, more now say it should be provided through a single health insurance system run by the government, rather than through a mix of private companies and government programs. Overall, 33% of the public now favors such a “single payer” approach to health insurance, up 5 percentage points since January and 12 points since 2014. Democrats – especially liberal Democrats – are much more supportive of this approach than they were even at the start of this year.
