What makes Jones and Anderson so Great (no. its not steroids)

Except for all those people who took steroids and never had that kind of success.

There's that.

The athlete Ben Johnson was an amazing runner, but the steroids made him run even faster.

Same with Silva and Jones

Just GOAT stuff, for the 2 greatest of all time. I'll take jon over any fighter ever, and prime anderson over any 205 and down not named Jon jones

MMA, a combat sport with the most diverse range of tools, Jones and Anderson are the only ones who were willing to utilize all of them to make themselves some of the most unpredictable fighters.

In boxing unpredictability comes from throwing unorthodox combinations, so the opponent wont recognize a pattern and eventually counter. Unfortunately there are only so many combinations that you can do with your hands.

In MMA, Anderson and Jones arent afraid to utilize every tool that is allowed in the sport: flying kicks, spinning shit. elbows from anywhere, knees, crawling in the cage. shoulder strikes, the scariest thing about them is you have no idea what theyre going to throw.

alright. now im prepared for your comments about steroids

Crawling in the cage
{<huh}

Yeah, if only Hendo would have taken more juice, he would have developed a well rounded striking arsenal

Steroids gave 20 more years to Hendo's career. Thats a pretty damn good proof that their impact is significant.

Not to mention the high of their careers being in the pre USADA era...

Which means their oppoenents were definitly also juicing....

It was juice vs juice. The skill was the differencial. Not the PEDs.

But why arent their opponent being busted post USADA? Perhaps they depended more of their peds than the guys that can't stop them after usada comes into place?

thats conjecture

cant accept this as an argument in this discussion

them boys be crazy in the cage :D

I don't have much of an opinion on silva since half his opponents were on steroids, but jones has probably been taking since day 1, you don't just start taking after usada, and the fact that he still did during usada means he probably knows he'll lose without them, was definitely too scared to fight cormier clean. I don't think jones would have had nearly as much success without roids

It's funny, I said literally the same thing about Lance Armstrong in a Tour de France forum...

Debunking Fedor fans before the thread picks up:
1. Pride encouraged steroid use.
2. Fedor is from Ukraine and fought out of Russia, the doping capital of the world.
3. Therefore, Fedor used steroids.

ALL FACTS

Ya but the problem is the conclusion does not support what you think it does.

So if you assume all Pride era guys were on Roids because it was not against the rules and encouraged then no one has the Roid advantage.

In the UFC where it is punished with meaningful sanctions you are far more likely to have guys try to abuse the system and gain advantage based on their access to the best techniques and testing beating solutions. Money is a big factor here. Lesser guys who are smart will either not cheat, as they cannot afford a ban, or do far less and be far more careful thus gaining less advantage.

So ya, Jones and Anderson likely had far more advantage than many others did who fought clean or were more moderate and careful and that matters.

Anderson, Fedor, Jones > GSP

no it doesn't. It's a lottery, some were caught, others not.

They are two of the very best....you just happen to nuthug for an inferior, boring lucky guy.

Im thinking that the fact that neither of their genitalia functioned properly might have given them an edge that other elite athletes might not have had.
