They didn't take enough just
So reach and height makes no difference ?
What are you, stupid ?
Except for all those people who took steroids and never had that kind of success.
There's that.
MMA, a combat sport with the most diverse range of tools, Jones and Anderson are the only ones who were willing to utilize all of them to make themselves some of the most unpredictable fighters.
In boxing unpredictability comes from throwing unorthodox combinations, so the opponent wont recognize a pattern and eventually counter. Unfortunately there are only so many combinations that you can do with your hands.
In MMA, Anderson and Jones arent afraid to utilize every tool that is allowed in the sport: flying kicks, spinning shit. elbows from anywhere, knees, crawling in the cage. shoulder strikes, the scariest thing about them is you have no idea what theyre going to throw.
alright. now im prepared for your comments about steroids

Yeah, if only Hendo would have taken more juice, he would have developed a well rounded striking arsenal
Not to mention the high of their careers being in the pre USADA era...
Which means their oppoenents were definitly also juicing....
It was juice vs juice. The skill was the differencial. Not the PEDs.
thats conjectureBut why arent their opponent being busted post USADA? Perhaps they depended more of their peds than the guys that can't stop them after usada comes into place?

taking advantage of the unpredictability, meanwhile the opponent cant throw kicks to the face, while crawling.Crawling in the cage
Debunking Fedor fans before the thread picks up:
1. Pride encouraged steroid use.
2. Fedor is from Ukraine and fought out of Russia, the doping capital of the world.
3. Therefore, Fedor used steroids.
ALL FACTS
Steroids gave 20 more years to Hendo's career. Thats a pretty damn good proof that their impact is significant.

Anderson, Fedor, Jones > GSPYa but the problem is the conclusion does not support what you think it does.
So if you assume all Pride era guys were on Roids because it was not against the rules and encouraged then no one has the Roid advantage.
In the UFC where it is punished with meaningful sanctions you are far more likely to have guys try to abuse the system and gain advantage based on their access to the best techniques and testing beating solutions. Money is a big factor here. Lesser guys who are smart will either not cheat, as they cannot afford a ban, or do far less and be far more careful thus gaining less advantage.
So ya, Jones and Anderson likely had far more advantage than many others did who fought clean or were more moderate and careful and that matters.
