...money. Having to work 8-10 hours a day (+2 hours for the commute) is something very far from an ideal lifestyle.

even though i agree with money, i'll also add vacation time. if i could make the same amount of money i make, but have six months off a year, that would be so fucking amazing. i'd travel all over the world. nothing beats experiences.

My ideal life style would be a traveling artist with enough money to comfortably finance both endeavors. So yeah, money.
If I had money it would also take a lot of work and courage to pursue what I want as well. In terms of art, I'd say I would need to know people and make connections.

That's pretty much what I'v been after switching to working as a landscape photographer, mostly local work admittedly but some stuff taken on holiday which honestly I'd preffer to be my main business. Income from it is not massive though and I'v only been able to make the shift due to having few responsibilities and a relatively low maintained lifestyle(travel really the only major cost).

Have you thought about moving north of the city? I live in Barrie and its far more affordable. Doesn't have the night life or attractions of Toronto, but I'm only 40 minutes from downtown.
As for what I need for a happier life? More time.

    And money.

Probably just a tremble in the feather of Ma'at.

Though in all earnestness, i'd need another planet at this point.

Good health, good clients, strong relationships.

Don't care about money that much at this stage of my life.

ever hear of the minimalists? They have an interesting way of life, and we've adopted some of their ways. I can't believe I don't remember their names, but their documentary is or was on Netflix. We recently bought a house and we either sold a lot of our stuff or just donated it. Just trying to keep the simple things.

Not necessarily helping, but I even bought myself a few extra saws and started making my own furniture. I find it very therapeutic

Able to purchase my own house and car, have my own rental property business and enough money in my bnk account to support my needs and to travel and live abroad is my ideal choice.

I don’t know. I’ve got it pretty good, but I guess not working anymore. Being able to do hobbies full time. That would be great. But I like my job and I like the people I work with so I’d be giving that up. Tough call.

Have the family stuff nailed. Happily married and two solid kids. I wouldn’t change any of that for sure.

More money always helps, but I’m comfortable as is and don’t want for much. I guess I’d like to have the money where I could could keep working but I wouldn’t need to? Does that make sense? I’d probably be better at my job too with a devil mayncare attitude.

Truly location independent job that pays as well as I’m currently paid (100k +). I can work from wherever in the US, but tied down in the country. I don’t mind working, even long hours, but would prefer to do so remotely while hopping country to country.

I’d like to have a secluded shack out in the middle of acres of land with all free utilities and private library. I’d also like to be exempt from taxes and bills.

Like super ideal? It would be more then enough so my wife and I can retire now if we wanted to. I would say $10 million or $20 million to be safe.

In terms of staying in the location we are at and going through the path that we are currently in I would say 50% more then our combined income while at the same time working 50% less. Making 150% of my current income and only working 20 hours per week would be a dream. You can't beat a combination of both money and time. To be honest my lifestyle probably wouldn't change all that much either. I pretty much should have went to med school and be a specialist that can make $350-500k/year and just work part time. I actually know a physician that does that, but instead he will work normal hours and take long stints of time off (2-3 months twice a year). Some traveling RNs do that too to an extent.

    Talent.

If I was good enough at my pastimes that I could do it without being another mediocre also ran, I'm sure I could scrape together the money to live happily.
