what would sherdoggers consider the golden age of the ufc?

agreed. i was also trying to pinpoint the exact time when they the increased frequency of events but each event was so watered down or fighters started to pull out due to injuries that it was no longer as exciting to have a huge card come up that people were counting down for.

watering down started in TUF. it went from ~12/yr --> ~24/yr --> 32/yr --> 40/yr --> 45/yr in about 5 years, if i remember correctly (too lazy to do a simple wiki search & basic arithmetic)

i think 2012 was the year most famous for injuries cancelling fights.

well, i was way fucking off lol nice work. i didn't think they held so steady from 2006-2009.

My favorite times was like 09 era but honestly it might just be that high school nostalgia cause I think MMA is pretty cool right now

right, 2012 was the year that jon jones forced dana to cancel a PPV when he refused to fight sonnen after hendo got injured.

Out of those options, the post-pride period for me

When GSP, Anderson, and BJ were all at the top of their game, with what we thought would be the Cain/JDS era of HWs...plus Brock.

Good times.

that was definitely an exciting time and for most people, their favourite period. that was also probably when zuffa picked up steam and started adding more events per year so a lot more people started watching. but i think the dawn of the casuals happened around the intro of wmma with the hype surronding ronda. mcgregor's surge in popularity that time brought in new fans and even more casuals.

2008-2009 the machida era

2006 to 2013. So many great fights and fighters fought who they were told to.
