Why is some socialism bad in your opinion?

We clearly need some socialism to counter-balance extreme capitalsim. Is it right that if you can't afford thousands of dollars for healthcare you have to live out of a card board box under a bridge?

What's wrong with the ultra rich paying their share in taxes commensurate with their income? What's wrong with wealthy corporations paying their share in taxes back to the community. Open up drug rehabilitation centers, etc. But no! Each man for himself! If the poor end up in ghettos that's their problem. Well, that's what lead to the French Revolution and caused the upper class to get mass executed.

Because of a lack of social services and well being for all I can't walk out at night in some areas without the fear of getting robbed. That is much less of an issue if developed nations such as Canada, Europe, etc. Today the highest taxed countries in the world have the highest standard of living.

With extreme capitalism you have less checks and balances, mortgage crisis of 2008 was a clear lesson. No one was ever held accountable for that disaster and greed. Interest groups run the show and don't give a shit about people. Some parts of the USA, the richest nation on earth, looks like sub Saharan Africa. Extreme poverty for all different types of races and people. Then you have the extreme rich that don't give a fuck.

Extreme socialism is bad too. It's best to be centrist.

Because everyone ends up broke and dying?

Nothing. many people have just been brainwashed by Cold war era talking points to think it automatically means mao type state communism (which isnt real communism by way since real communism as marx said would be a world with no government and people essentially acting like native tribes did in a communal sense). In any case there are different types of socialism and it can be applied differently. It is an economic and political and philosophical idea.

The same way capitalism can be regulated or not. And the same way capitalist ideas and stuff can exist with socialist stuff. Many countires in world today are socialist in many ways and capitalist in other etc.

It's helpful to think of socialism as a scale rather than a vector. Instead of discussions like this:

A: Healthcare should be accessible to everyone
B: Great, now we are going to turn into Venezuela

We could have discussions like this:

A: What would be better healthcare system than what we currently have today: a more capitalistic solution or a more socialized solution?
B: Well, if we cut regulations across state lines...

It's bad because of the Red Scares.

Keep telling us why America should be more like mother russia.

Real quick, social programs and socialism are wolds apart.

Theres nothing wrong with it...unless you're an oligarch who benefits from a cronyist system.

So you shouldn't have to do anything to access services others have paid for? We keep you alive simply because you exist?

Note there is also a large sect of socialists who are anti-welfare state. Plus all your points are directed at countries with varying welfare states..which is, at best, a footnote concept within the umbrella term socialism

Also, that's not really what lead to French revolution. There's a big difference between the third estate and the bottom 30 percent

The US has been a socio-capitalist society since the 1930's.

Not quite quick enough: Different people have different things in mind when they use the term, and a massive amount of time and rectal pain could be saved and avoided by people realizing that.

Command economies suck. I think we all know that. Markets are awesome. But to work effectively, they need post-market redistribution, some regulations (should be minimized), and some gov't-provided services and infrastructure.

Now that that's out of your system, do you understand my point?
Your point being that there is no such thing as socio capitalism, even though it *is* a real thing? A capitalist economy with a welfare state and socialist institutions. What was your point again?

My point being that "socialism" and "capitalism" are already hopelessly muddled, and now we're having to deal with "social capitalism" (new one I saw here), social democracy, and now your "socio-capitalism." For fuck's sake, just discuss policies on their own merits. No one can keep up with this language pollution, and with everyone using their own private glossary, it's no wonder you see so many arguments about nothing.

Meh. Things evolve/change/birth all the time. We're now acknowledging over 50 different genders and pronouns. New words are added to the dictionary every day. It's not up to you to decide how people post. ;)

Er, yeah, you can keep on keepin' on. I can't stop you. But, likewise, I can comment on the harm you're doing to the discourse.
