What's Your Next Purchase? V5

And since I finally figured out how to post pics and this is a new gun porn thread...

And since I'm posting up gun porn, here's a glock 20. This thing now has different sights and a bars to barrel, I load it with double tap 230 hard cast and it's a fucking nightmare for a thing on the other end.

I'd had the itch to buy a G20 all freakin summer. Ended deciding to work on getting set up for reloading instead. Id like to actually shoot the stuff I do have more and that dollar a shot shit ( 10mm , M2 Ball , 45-70 ect ) just sucks all the fun out of it.

After speaking with the guys at Clark's, I may end up going a different route. I'm thinking a no-frills Bianchi Metallic in .38 Super and a bobbed Meltdown Commander in matte stainless in .45. Seeing the polished chrome in person, its a little too bright.

And yes, Damascus slides are still an option. $500 and a significantly longer wait.

Goddammit, a local has 4 Burris 2-7x32 Scout scopes. Even though I just scoped my .308, I'm very tempted to pick one up soon and experiment with it after deer season.

I would. Honestly, I'd put a Ching sling on that scout rifle, the Burris scope and use it the way it's intended to be used. Then buy that savage you want for next season. Seems like you have a frankengun that you aren't crazy about at the moment.

I'd get that scope and have both.

The sling I have now functions like a Ching sling, without having to install a third sling swivel up the middle. Here are some pictures that the leather maker posted of that sling in use:

If I end up getting this Burris (which I probably will), I'm ditching these see through rings and running QD rings on both my Nikon and my Burris and will swap them out as needed.

But, if I keep the Scout and decide to dedicate my Nikon to a separate bolt gun next fall, it won't be a .308; not much point for me, in having 2 guns in the same calibre, that serve a very similar purpose. I may experiment with a .270 Win or 6.5 Creedmoor if it comes down to that.

270 is a good cartridge. For many years I had only 1 rifle and it was/is a Remington 700 in 270. I got a lot of elk and deer with that gun. It was nothing fancy but the 270 shoots so damn flat. I highly reccomend it.

The increased stability of the Ching and CW ( I prefer the CW personally) slings is entirely predicated on the two counterbalanced points of contact. "Safari Chings" modified 1907's, and tactical slings all lack the speed and stability a Ching sling provides. Its also worth noting that slinging up to take a standing shot is a complete waste of time, the sling is only as stable as the supported elbow, and its impossible to support an elbow while standing.

10mm is such a versatile round. I have a few of them. G20 is my favorite.

Your safe is a mess. stick a couple of 2x4's to hold that top rack up.

You're telling me!!! That pic is actually a like 2-3 years old right after I moved. It's just the only pic I have on my phone.

I said in the other thread, but a bunch of stuff is changed. That pic was take. Right after I bought like 5 Weatherby rifles, that's why there's still stickers on the barrels. The m4 is set up differ early too. There's actually 2 more safes, one is sort of a stack on that is closer to the bedroom with just a few shotguns and a few glocks for easy access and the other is full of surplus stuff like m1 garlands, 1903a1s k98s mosin nagants and stuff like that.

M1's are my favorite to shoot, I prefer the carbine for plinking. I made the mistake of carrying a Garand deer hunting one year, 10lbs gets heavy after a couple of miles.

Here little things mean a lot. I love the feel of my HK P30L only the ambi-magazine release was rubbing the side of my finger at the tip of the nail (with the trigger squeezed). I looked for a right-handed one but I only saw ambi. So I bought the spare ambi release ($12.95) and removed the offending bit. Yeah, I felt the need to preserve the original part.

Here's out it turned out. A coping saw, sandpaper, and Sharpie. :)

I like that, simple, clean, functional and cheap. The only other option is to spend nearly $300 at Bowie tactical getting the "Vickers Package". Well Done.

Have you looked at the g40....their new long slide 10mm.

Yeah I've checked into it but I already have the 20 and the 29. I've got aftermarket barrels and night sights on both. Plus I have the 6" hunting barrel for the 20 and about 10 mags for each one so I'm pretty much set with 10mm guns for awhile.

I'm a fan of this kryptek model. The rear sight also has a built in spot for reflex sight.
