Posted this in the sports bar but also thought the people on WR would get a kick out of this. Victim culture stretching into sports reporting:

"Fitz-McCown is no white anomaly - just an extreme example of the white privilege that litters the League with horrible quarterback play. While many studies have documented that poor-performing black QBs are at least twice as likely to be benched, this privilege has become so rampant we need to quantify it."

Youth Advocate. Journalist. Educator. Sports Nut. "In a racist society it is not enough to be non-racist - we must be antiracist." -- Angela Davis

idk who angela davis is but she sounds a bit bitchy

While I don't agree with the article I have always wondered why guys like Vince Young, Robert Griffin, Colin Kaepernik are not given another chance.

I tend to believe that due to the competitive nature of pro football teams usually start the best QB. He could be green, if he can throw TD's they would start him

Angela Davis is a communist traitor. She ran as vp on the American communist party ticket at least once with Gus Hall. Later, post-Soviet fall, it was revealed that the Soviets were funding the American communists. Somehow the media never gets around to this.

VY sucked and was a mental midget.

RG3 did get another shot in Cleveland and failed (like most Browns QBs)

Young couldn't read a defense and only could run a limited offense -- when your athlectism fails, you need to rely on your saviness -- if you have none, well what do you expect is going to happen. He's going to play in the CFL and you will see where he's at. But if you're a QB that relies on a cannon arm and fast leg, you expect those attributes to go first. He could never stand in the pocket and read options like other current older QB's

RG3 has gotten more chances than anyone could've expected -- he's made of glass and held together by spit. After his rookie year you noticed an incredible decline because he's perpetually hurt - and again, when you're a QB that relies on athleticism and injury proned, your slope his going to be huge

CK is good enough to play but any team that takes him also takes on a media shit storm that will automatically be the focal point of the remainder of their season. You may be a supporter of him and his cause, but as a coach, GM and or owner I guarantee you wouldn't sign him due the pressure and spotlight it puts on the remaining 50 players on your team. All of the sudden every member of the team is under a massive lense and the narrative switches from actually playing football and prepping for Sunday to a mass onslaught of questions, thoughts and cameras around you for 10 hrs a day.

No executive is going to want to take that on right now -- black or white.

Watson will be the next example of this.

Being a QB in the NFL means you need to be a leader, and bring little to no off the field distractions. RG3, KAP, VY are not leaders, and have huge ego's, and bring tons of distractions. In all honesty they all suck imo as well.

Angela Davis is an African American woman who was a prominent figure in the American communist party until 1991. She split from the American communist party because they supported a violent (unsuccessful) coup.

Her fame peak was in the 70s when guns she had purchased were later used in a kidnapping+felony murder. She was briefly a fugitive on the FBIs ten most wanted list. Jury found her innocent. I first learned about that because my English literature teacher has a story about how she apparently resembled Davis at the time, and was briefly stopped by the FBI.

In more recent years, she has mostly pushed for criminal justice reform.

Not much of a resume to call someone a traitor, though certainly lots of things people can find to disagree with. It would make about as much sense to call Bernie Sanders a traitor for being a socialist who openly admired communists.

So much white privilege that the NFL is about 70% black.

I wonder why this guy isn't so quick to jump on the fact that like 90% of wide receivers and running backs are black. Clearly this is because the NFL is racist against whites.

Yeah...sports owners dont want to win and make money. They want to make 100% sure they keep the black man down

Vince Young was, the Packers brought him in and then cut him after a time either last year or year before. He was super athletic coming out of college but can't read a defense and ate himself out of his athleticism with Cheesecake Factory splurges that were nearing a grand at times from my understanding.

Griffin it's cause he's had like 4-5 surgeries on his damn knee and it's shredded so his greatest asset, his mobility, which made him a joy to watch his rookie year, is fucking gone. Fedex Field ruined him, watching the replays of when he re-injured his knee in the playoffs has me cringe every time. There's also reports he's a bit full of himself in the locker room and rubbed most of the coaching staff and players the wrong way when he was in Washington too. And when I say he had like 4-5 surgeries I know he had at least one when he was in college, possibly two before he ever took a snap at the pro level.

Squidward it's cause his game has deteriorated and he was wanting starter money to be a backup (economically bad for a team) plus his goddamn girlfriend is toxic as fuck on social media.

Watson will be the next example of this.
I really hope Watson recovers and can play at the level he was this year when he comes back. Dude has a super awesome story of how he made it to where he is.

Me too -- but age and injuries are going to deplete his style quickly.

He's fun to watch and seems like a good kid. Just needs to adapt his style of for the long haul.

I think the funny thing about this article is it highlights Josh McCown but doesn't take not of just how AWFUL Geno Smith was. McCown is a lifetime backup at best but Geno Smith was TURRIBLE.

Wilson is one I worry about and I don't even like the Seagulls. That poor guy is going to get crushed one day and never be the same. It happened to McNabb too but he was able to learn to be more of a pocket guy before it was TOO late for him.

Vince Young played for six years for 2 teams. He threw more INTs than TDs. That is horrific. He sucked.

Griffin played a playoff game on a bad leg and fucked up his body. He is too broken and fragile to risk for teams. I feel bad for him, but I understand why nobody wants him. Totally damaged goods, and he got no respect for putting his body on the line for the Skins.

Now on to Colin. He is borderline retarded. He can't read a defense and actually play like a normal QB. He needs an entire system installed around him, and teams figured his style out. He never seemed to care to put in the work in the film room to get better. He just would make one quick read and then chuck it or run. And he has zero finesse with his passes. He has no touch on the ball. When a delicate pass is needed he throws a fastball.

In one season Payton manning threw 9 more touchdowns than Vince Young threw in his entire career. lol

I worry about him too, but he is really good at avoiding damage. But it just takes on hit. Dude is awesome tho.

This gif right here for non football fans is probably a HUGE reason for Kaepernick not being signed:

Stevie Wonder could probably see that dude was open and he's fucking legitimately blind.

Vince got picked up by eagles and was horrid.
Griffin went Cleveland after wash and was horrid.
Kap is avg. But why sign an average guy that will be a distraction. No one cares what the backup QB has to say and that's how it should be. that's not how it would be.

Same thing with Tim Tebow average Quarterback... big distraction. teams went away from him too. Of course he didn't sue anyone... he moved on with his life, like Kaepernick needs to do
