Europe, during the K-1 era and with GlORY kickboxing and other competitions that followed in its wake, has gained major attention for its traditions in standup fighting. There's been massive debate before on how technically good they are and how much they have mastered their given art form.

So when it comes to Dutch fighters, who are the top 5 or so best stand up fighters of all time? Given that the Netherlands has a particularly rich tradition I gave them a separate category. Among all strikers from the Netherlands, whether their style is what has been called "Dutch kickboxing", Muay Thai based fighters, Kyokushin karateka, TKD or something else, who have been the 5 best in terms of technically mastery of their chosen style?

And for standup fighters from the other European nations with strong standup traditions, who are the top 5 in terms of how much they have mastered their chosen striking form?

Top 5 Dutch Strikers (in no particular order)

1. Aerts
2. Andy Souwer
3. Badr Hari
4. Dekkers
5. Robin van Roosmalen

Notable mentions to: Spong, Hoost, Verhoeven, Holziken.

In terms of other European nations, i'd say after the Dutch it would probably have to be the English. Particularly for a pure Muay Thai style, a lot of Thais went over to London to teach / do seminars; so the instruction is decent especially in London and Manchester. Of course the strong tradition of boxing goes without mention.

It's started to grow in Italy as well particularly with the success of Petrosyan, who IMO is #1 p4p in k1/muay thai.
