Who took a worse beating and who is more durable/iron chinned: Ortega or Hooker?

I'm a big fan of both fighters mentioned in the title, but will freely admit they got their asses handed to them by Holloway and Barboza. That being said, both guys showed a ton of heart, grit, and toughness.

Haven't looked at the stats, but I think it's safe to say that Ortega absorbed far more strikes than Hooker, and I don't think Ortega was dropped once...but man, those kicks Hooker took to the legs and body from Barboza were brutal. Dropped several times, but kept on getting back up.

What Hooker endured was much worse from an immediate pain perspective. If you've fought or sparred, you'd know you can push through accumulated head damage from strikes. But one proper shot to the liver ENDS you. You need godlike pain tolerance to even keep upright after that.

What would you prefer: liver/kidney failure or brain damage?

Respect to both guys. Say it looked like Hooker was truely out long before he folded. Brian face just kept swellin.

Brain damage. Liver shots are no joke and the fact that Hooker took more than one is insane.

Like others have said I'd choose getting smashed in the head over getting kicks to the body and legs any day, especially from a guy like edson. So I'll go with hooker because he was getting hit everywhere.

Sumpin' wrong wid a thread about who almost dieded

I think Hooker took the bigger blows but Ortega took more shots. Holloway doesn't throw kicks like Barboza but Barboza was also more tired than Holloway.

Max was beating Ortega with machine gun like punches. Barboza was throwing everything with intentions to kill, I cringed like twenty times during that fight. Horrifying leg kicks, beyond brutal body kicks, full power hooks to the body and head... I just hoped Hooker wouldn’t die in the cage.

Hooker. Ortega at least had that third round reprieve. And even during the rounds he did get pummeled throughout, he wasn't taking shots as destructive as those Hooker ate. However, I must acknowledge Ortega fought one round more.

If you only look at the stats, Ortega is definitely the winner, but when watching both fights, Barboza's kicks seem way more hurtful. Being punched in the head isn't exactly a pleasure, but those body kicks sure were nasty. All around, I would say sustaining an onslaught by Barboza is way more gruesome than a ton of punches by Holloway

For those interested in the stats:

Ortega (vs Holloway)
4 rounds: 307 strikes absorbed (244 to the head, 41 to the body, 5 to the legs)

Hooker (vs Barboza)
2 1/2 rounds: 127 strikes absorbed (71 to the head, 36 to the body, 19 to the legs)

For some reason FightMetric only credits Barboza with one knock down (the final one that TKO'd Hooker)

but then you gotta start doing some math and figuring out how many max holloway strikes are equal to one barboza blow, we know that ford escorts are more or less the standard unit for punching power, but i feel like holloway is throwing more geo metro's? would that make barboza's blows toyota camry's? how many geo metro's is one camry? I think we need someone smarter than me to do the math here
