you have reem, who IMO is still an MMA fighter first. some people say yeah eh trained dutch kickboxing for years but his main sport was mma for a while.
also, reem has been damaged by strikes in mma fights way more than in his k-1 matches. seems ironic becuase K1 guys are supposed to be the ones beating him on the feet, and mma guys are supposed to be winning by ground stuff.
also, rampage jackson winning cyril abidi twice, an abidi who beat peter aerts an ATG.
We also have kato vs schilling. the first fight was an mma match that KATO won by superman punch.
the rematch was in kickboxing, schillings specialty. and kato (no kickboxing experience) knocked him out.
honorable mention: bob sapp, not an mma guy buy a big, crude, no skill street fighter, was bale t beat ernesto hoost (kickboxing hall of famer legend) twice.
why does mma seem to have the upperhand?
is it the unorthodoxness?
