I think so. Conors key to success isn't what most people are saying here. Conor has way better striking. He will bust toneys face up just as bad as Nate's in both fights. It's definitely a big possibility that he can KO him inside 2. But I don't think he does. I think he uses his counters to catch toney throughout the fight, while employing leg kicks. He needs to stick and move. I also think if he drops him like he did Nate, he won't go for the finish because of toneys bottom game. It will be a UD for Conor imo.

Conor has shitty leg kicks, RDA couldn't hurt Tony with them but Conor can? Lmao

Idk where this random idea comes from? Conor never threw any leg kicks before the Nate 2 fight. There is no basis for this statement. And when he did commit to them against Nate, he landed like 30

It would not be a good idea for him to employ a strategy like that against Tony

I feel if he doesnt put Tony away early hes going to get subbed when he tires out, Conor cant afford to have a round against Tony like the 3rd round of the Nate 2 fight

Conor hurt his leg while kicking Nate who is literally a kicking bag. How is he gonna hurt Tony who has leg kick defense with leg kicks? LOL

Do you have any reasoning behind that statement? Toney and Nate are basically the same size, both have unbelievable gas tanks, and great bottom game sub ability.

A random, freak injury. Says nothing about how well he would or wouldn't do if he were to use them against Ferguson.

If he hurt his hand punching, would you be saying he shouldn't punch?

Interesting take.

It's up to Conor and his team which plan to employ, but I think it's definitely safer to use the Diaz 2 strategy, because expending more energy going for the KO early may spell doom if the KO doesn't come.

So you may be right, TS. But, if Conor considers that Tony is smarter than Diaz with even more skills to use later on, then maybe it's still best to go for the early KO because Conor might think that he's fucked in the later rounds no matter what.

I think he'll do the Diaz 2 strategy now too actually.

Conor broke his foot against a guy who doesn't check leg kicks. What do you think will happen against someone like Tony, who shut down the leg kicks of a specialist like RDA?

If he hurt his hand punching, would you be saying he can't punch?
He hasn't.That means he is a good puncher.Yeah when you are an MMA fighter, and you are hurting your leg while kicking that means you are not very good at it.

It's like these people have never trained or sparred in there life. Conor cought the knee wrong on the kick. Shit happens. Means nothing. He landed like 30+ clean leg kicks before that. I've injured my thumb in boxing. I guess I shouldn't punch again.

I wonder if it's because his legs weren't experienced enough.

Don't your bones and legs become tougher the more you do leg kicks? Like in Kickboxer movie where Van Damme kicks that tree over and over?

Conor's kicking some trees right now I bet. He'll be fine.

Really?

So Anderson Silva sucks at MMA?

Weidman checked his kick. That's why he broke his leg.If Nate would have checked Conor's leg kicks he might have broken Conor's leg.

Conor's slow low kicks would never work on fighters who has leg kick defense.

Yeah somebody can be brilliant at kicks.

If your opponent lifts their knee up to defend it though, you could injure yourself.

Doesn't mean the kick was bad at all.

He doesnt throw leg kicks because they are not that good. He had some success in their second fight because Nate has not learned how to properly defend them despite a decade long career. Tony has fought RDA and Barboza, both are very hard kickers and they didnt have success against Tony. Not only that but low kicks would leave Conor vulnerable to takedowns, in fact Nate took him down after catching a kick.

Conor's strategy will be to stay at range and aggressively counter Tony, looking for an early (T)KO, which is the same strategy he's used against everybody

Conor has evolved his game from head Hunter to a more technical counter striker. In his early days he had no game plan and planned to KO everyone. Since his first loss in the UFC he fights different. Yes he still KOs people and plans too, but he clearly is preparing for specific opponent different now. Nate diaz 2 fight, Eddie, and even his Floyd fight are different than his early UFC fights.

If you are kicking someone who has zero leg kick defense and still hurting your leg.You are doing something wrong. It's not rocket science.
