Looks like a gauntlet has been thrown, unambiguously.
I'm just gonna clear those out.
I think a death penalty debate could be pretty easy to set up. I'm also still hoping someone steps forward for a Us Intervention in Latin America/Communism & the Cold War debate. Seems to me like there are a buttload of people around here that would be interested in arguing why the US definitely should have/was right in intervening in Latin America to fight of Communism.
Instead of dropping off those old debate sign ups, I just moved them down in case somebody comes back and wants in on them still.
@Stoic1 I'll put you down for a death penalty debate. Would you be arguing for or against?
Hey 'Limbo Pete', don't know if you are going to get any takers for the 'Latin America/Communism' debate, but I would be happy to debate @Stoic1 on the 'Death Penalty' debate. I'll take either side on either debate.
Sweet! Alright, we can totally set that up. @Stoic1 are you in? We can make this official and get the ball rolling.
Sunday is better late than never, and this topic shouldn't require much refining. I think we should have a pm convo to find a point of disagreement, because one party is saying he could go either way.
But not tonight, I'm 70's bushed.
...well, looks like another topic that will not be debated. Let me know if things change. Things are slow again in 'The War Room'. @Limbo Pete, @Fawlty
I haven't gotten w/Limbo yet, hold yer stockings.
No, not you @Fawlty, I was referring to @Stoic1. -- @Limbo Pete
He may not have checked the thread. I don't think he's in the WR every day.
On another note, we're going to keep offering these for the foreseeable future. I realize the time commitment for people can be rough (it's rougher for the people running it, so we get it), so it's okay that we seldom get a debate together. I've checked out dedicated debate forums elsewhere and they have little activity as well. It's just not a popular format today. But on the other hand, we're on pace for 6 debates this year, which is reasonable. If we can make future debates run as smoothly as the last one (Civil War), and also accommodate schedules with a shorter format when necessary, we can probably double the number of debates next year.
Agreed. Well, for me it is the best part of Sherdog, but than again, most of these guys (clowns) are too lazy to write a 5 line paragraph, read an article, or do research. Heck, the majority can't even use correct grammar and love to stick to acronyms. Some of which I don't even know what it stands for. Reading a book would be a monumental achievement for some. Than again, it is an MMA forum, rolling around on the mat comes first.
I think the internet as a medium strongly encourages us to be lazy & gimme-now, and that's not even accounting for its use as a leisure activity, which is really the business of the person enjoying it. I think we're wrong to expect more than we get, but I'm in the same boat. I also shitpost a lot of one-liners in between quality posts, so I feel my pain.
Boy, things in 'The War Room' and 'Mayberry Lounge' are slow. What a bunch of weak threads. Hey @Limbo Pete, are moderators on Sherdog paid?
We get paid in salt
