Your Pre-UFC record means nothing.

He is one of the exceptions. He really didn't have great competition and people wanted him to fight the best. He is legit, but I am still not convinced that he is going to be champ just yet.
I think it can benefit guys to spend their early fights fighting guys that aren't at or near top 10-15..
Justin fights like a guy who doesn't see himself losing, propelling him to keep rising to the occasion.

Whereas, if you run into the best guys too soon, you're forced to deal with feeling vulnerable, losing and possibly being finished, which may be that swing factor in your career progression (Weidman was fighting for the belt so soon in his career that the string of losses was inevitable considering who he was fighting)

I think in JG' s case, it was a positive to spend that time in WSOF sharpening his claws while not having to deal with losing, getting stopped, or crumbling under the lights right out the gate.
