Ultimate 80's Memories Thread - Part 2 - The 80s Strikes Back

There are multiple parts to this, but I just rewatched it, and goddamn it, I miss the 80s so much.

The 80s: The Decade That Made Us

Yeah, this show is great

I wouldn't be so sure. Of course, some stuff now is great, but some stuff then was great too. But back then you also had the music and the style to go with it.

I'm drawing blanks here on tv. Comedy is subjective so I won't include that but drama and action, tv today is much better in that aspect. Music of course was better in the 70s and 80s

I don't even watch tv shows anymore. I'll watch reality shows and the news, but that's about it. Nothing really interests me as far as all the different series'.

Another one I like to point to is cartoons. Cartoons in the 80's were fucking AMAZING! Cartoons today are gay as shit.

Have you actually watched 80's cartoons in recent years? I too was thinking how awesome they were but then when you looked at them they were full of stupid things thanks to censors.

Turtles didn't really use their weapons to fight, they just used them to cut pipes or hit trash cans at enemies, he-man wasn't even allowed to use his sword at all. As a kid you didn't really notice those kind of things but when I watched them again as an adult they really stood out.

In the more modern incarnations of those two series, the villains and heroes have actually used their weapons and fought each others with them.

I did notice that, but that doesn't affect them being infinitely more watchable that the stuff today. Although the fluidity of the animation wasn't as good, the look of the cartoon itself was just so much more fun and awesome.

Yeah, but a lot of those 80s action shows were so damn fun and watchable. I found them to be a lot more so than stuff today, and I've given a lot of modern shows a shot. But the old ones like:

Miami Vice
Magnum PI
Knight Rider
The Incredible Hulk
Etc

They don't make them like they used to. The Knight Rider remake TV series was fucking AWFUL. So, that says something.

I know we've mentioned the Goldbergs a few times in this thread but the new season just started last week. And again, so far it's been awesome. 80s fans would love this show.

A clip from the premiere. The kids wanna throw a 'Risky Business' type of party

From what I used to watch.
1980s tv drama & action shows were big on private detectives - Magnum, PI, Simon & Simon, Spencer for Hire, Riptide, Moonlighting.
And shows in which the characters operated with a secret government agency or outside of the law that usually involved absurd plots & villains: Hardcastle & McCormick (judge going after criminals that avoided prosecution), Knight Rider, A-Team, Airwolf.

Hunter - Rick Hunter pretty much just shot & killed the bad guys, seems he rarely arrested anyone.

Hill Street Blues had a big influence on future shows, the rest not so much.

Or they get cancelled before making any impact like Crime Story and Max Headroom. Dramas pretty much sucked back then before the 2000s. Only a handful would be considered quality shows today as you pointed Hill Street Blues and add to that the Fugitive, Twilight Zone ,Twin Peaks,Oz, NYPD Blue and the X-files

Yeah, but most dramas nowdays I'm not fond of. That goes for actions shows too. Most are dull beyond reason and the ones that try to be funny are unfunny to the point of being insulting.

Not to mention everything these days is tainted with that PC bullshit.

Interesting new show based on the 80s:
