Kavanagh started training Gunni when he was 17 and only couldn't give Gunni his black belt because he hadn't been a black belt for more than 6 years which is a requirement, so Gunni had to spend time at the Gracie Academy in NY in order to get one. But make no mistake, Kavanagh is a huge contribution to Gunni's outstanding ground game.
