Never read any comics so I had no expectations or emotional attachments coming in.

I enjoyed the show. Thought it was fairly solid, though I can see the points about how it might have been better with 10 episodes instead of 13.

All said and done it was very okay.

In a universe where robots are dropping nations out of the sky, it's very hard to care about mundane bullshit like war crimes. I was waiting for an episode where someone complains about PTSD from serving in Iraq and someone else says "Yeah that's a drag...so half my squad got vaporized by the Chitauri when they tore a hole in space/time and invaded New York..."

Are the Netflix shows part of the MCU?

Officially, yes. But there are no plans as yet for any actual crossovers to take place.

In the very first episode of DD, the Chitauri Invasion is referenced as, "the Incident".

So i cant read the thread due to spoilers cuz im on...ep 7?

First of all, its a good action show, but not as fun as i had hoped. Kind of an offset feeling, frankly.

Second, what in the FUCK is going on with the crazed kid?! I could give a shit about him and his madness. You can edit out ALL his scenes thus far and nothing changes. Hope there is some type of pay off.

Ya, I'm not reading many of the posts b/c I'm on like epsisode 4. I was expecting a bit more action packed and faced paced. But of course character development is good too. It's just a bit different than what I expected. I haven't seen anything else related to the Punisher series though.

I convinced myself Punisher was a special case, like it was outside main continuity. The "Battle of New York" newspaper in Karen's office put that to rest.

I think the head of TV and the head of film hate each other so the divisions won't ever work together. That's a shame because Nick Fury showing up would be great.

Yea this is my feeling I'm like on episode 8. The PTSD kid at this point is just pissing me off when I see it. IGN wrote some article about it saying Netflix did it wrong. I didn't read it to avoid spoilers but I'm interested to see what people have to say about it.

Finally started this last night, I’m loving it. The end of episode 1 was fucking awesome.

All I will say is the PTSD kid is what MAKES Frank officially accept his role as The Punisher essentially.

Other than the obvious headbutting between him and Billy the PTSD kid is what makes him BECOME the Punisher IMO.

I love how he let Billy live. It's a good way of having Frank NOT kill off every opponent of his and force him to confront one of the more memorable Punisher enemies.

The way he brutalizes him too on the mirror is fucking great

Ok thanks for that. I've been wondering what the fucking point. I'll have to see it play out before I give an official opinion but I have a feeling it wont be worth it but will see.

I'll admit the payoff feels kinda... well.... not as big as it should. BUT, there's an aspect of it that fully proves what Frank said to Karen too about "THEY make the truth".

I thought Daredevil on Netflix Season 1 was ok, not good enough to make me come back for Season 2. But after just finding out Bernthal’s Punisher is in Season 2 and I liked Punisher so much I thought I’d give it a shot. After 3 episodes, Punisher is stealing the show.

I'm a bit torn on this. It was good, it was violent, and Jon Bernthal is terrific. There many things I liked it about it but the shows doesn't really hit the mark for me in many ways. It could've been amazing but instead it's pretty good. Like a lot of people here, I'm not so sure the whole CIA/conspiracy angle was the best choice for this. Felt like that sort of history is something that should've been established as part of his character in the past. The main story of taking on criminals and going around "Punishing" might've been better since you know, he's the Punisher. That being said I liked the PTSD/special ops aspect of his character as that makes his skills and craziness more believable. I also just have more sympathy for soldiers with PTSD.
I liked the scene where he daydreams of his wife and when she asks him to come home, he answers, "This is Home." Meaning being in war is where he belongs

I liked that the violence was brutal and bloody, but I think in a way there should've been more. More violence might have fit his character better. A lot of the action is him acting in self-defense or revenge, and a lot of guys he kills aren't necessarily "bad guys" but people doing their job. He doesn't really go out of his way to punish scum bags. We needed some scenes like in Daredevil Season 2 where he presumably punishes a guy for peddling kiddie porn to him at that shop. There are some things I don't like about how they portrayed Castle's skills as well.
in one scene he's taking out a bunch of mercs by himself and in another he's jumping in front of Karen to take bullets from that Lewis guy instead just shooting him instead. I also think Castle takes way too much unnecessary damage but gets out because he's lucky.

I also thought it was weird how Lewis, who was just a regular Army Infantry grunt, could effortlessly take out those Anvil guys. It makes sense for Castle or Russo since they're special ops, but Lewis was just a regular infantry and presumably those Anvil guys were trained at least as much as he was, but dude's getting headshots like nothing. I didn't mind his story line, but Lewis should've had much less screen time than he did.
Also one continuity error I noticed
Didn't Karen get her gun taken by security when she went to interview the Senator? How did she have a gun all of the sudden in her bag to shoot Lewis in the foot?

I get why they showed the softer side of Frank Castle to make his character more sympathetic, but I personally would've preferred him to be even crazier and more violent. He seemed like an unhinged psycho in DD but they dialed that back down in this show.

I don't know what to think of it. I feel like they returned to do his origin story again.

I felt like they tried too hard when it came to the bad guys, everyone had to have some weird fetish or psycho-thing going on.

And you could guess Billy was going to be working with them from the start.

One positive surprise was that Micro and his family stayed alive.
