Love Theo, but you're really stretching that.

The guy im debating with is clearly an idiot. Just having abit fun with him.

But Theo arguably was a reverse freak athlete though given his lack of size n dominance.

One of my favourite athletes, for sure.

This is a standard, derivative comedy bit. Chris Rock had something about LeBron playing hockey like 10 years ago.

Fighters are born not made. A born fighter has the mentality first and foremost. Without the mentality you can not be a fighter. This is something you are born with. Not just physical gifts.

Which is a massive issue, a lot of athletically gifted guys do not have the mentality under fire to be high level pros. Plus of course not everyone learns every skill in a similar fashion, some people have a natural aptitude for boxing or wrestling, some do not.

People are going out of there minds with Ngannou but the reality is that he is actually a perfect example that the whole "A level with 6 months training" myth is nonsense. Watch his loss again Cisse and that shows you what someone with limited training(actually much more than 6 months) looks like, wild sloppy arm punchs and a lot of mistakes.
Yeah but didn't he drop Cisse and almost finish him? That fight was closer than many think, he made many mistakes yes, but he also had his moments through his sheer physical dominance alone.

There's like 3 people who made it to the NBA after not playing until 17 or later. And they aren't 6'7", but 7'4" plus freaks (Eaton,Bol). They aren't ball handlers either, so comparing them to kickers is stupid.

Hmmm...I wonder if a guy 6'8" with exceptional lateral movement skill like LeBron might make a good goalie? I think he'd have a much better than 0% chance.

Isaiah Thomas was almost the MVP at 5'9"" last season.

Being able to run like a gazelle at 6'7" while dribbling and passing is part of what makes someone a freak athlete.

Nope, theres been loads make it to the NBA. John Amaechi made it. Same for Hakeem Olajuwon. He made it to the Hall of Fame even though he didnt play until he was 17. Because being 7ft tall was more of an advantage than practicing from a young age. Absolutely ludicrous, & there r plenty of others.

If height werent the primary skill then the average height wouldnt be so crazy high - there really is no disputing this. Isiah Thomas has to be INSANELY talented to make up for the fact he doesnt have the primary skill - height. Otherwise, where r all the others his height?? Even the 'skill players' like Curry are 6'3", putting them in the 98th percentile. At one point, about 18% of Americans over 7' between 18-40 were in the NBA - just ludicrous. It literally takes more talent for you or I to make our college team than it does a 7' guy to make the NBA.

So ronaldo is a better athlete than LeBron?

Olajuwon was NOT a ball-handler and was in college 4 years before the NBA. . And find where it says he picked up the ball after 17. How did University of Houston know to recruit him? LeBron at 17 taking up being a goalie would easily make it to the highest level...easily.

The only NBA players who have done what you're saying are centers, and it's still only a handful or so. Centers don't really even have to dribble.

I agree about Isajah Thomas though. He's twice the athlete of any soccer or hockey player...as is every point guard in the NBA and high-level college.

LeBron is basically a point guard...at 6'8, 260, and with over 7 ft wingspan.

Jonathan Toews and Ronaldo are better athletes?

Tyson Fury mocked the fighting ability of "novice basketball player" Deontay Wilder and Mighty Mouse.

" probably pound-for-pound king, if you want to say pound-for-pound because it doesn't exist, because if we're all the same weight, then that would never happen."

"there's not a man 3 feet or 7 feet born from his mother..."

Imagine GOAT athlete Bruce Jenner Kardashian just hammering Yoel Romero with long punches.

The use of these things in basketball and fighting are vastly different and that's not factoring in having the talent for striking or grappling, the ability to take a punch and deliver, them the list goes on and on.

I believe you avoided this post which should put an end to all this nonsense.
You're being dumb. If you take an average Joe athletically, which many top fighters are, and take an a level athlete and teach them to fight, they will undoubtedly have an advantage to the lesser athlete. If we are judging athleticism as the constant, it is advantageous. Now if course an athlete, just like anyone trying to fight, may lack instinct, is, aggression, chin etc. But these aren't assumptions that can debunk the benefit athleticism lends a fighter. When all things are 100% equal, athleticism will win. Bllm, bang, don't bother responding because guys like you just dig and dig without accepting the very obvious truth.

Anybody who knows anything about fighting and is even reasonably intelligent knows that this is false. There have been "A level athletes" who've transitioned to MMA from other combat sports with only mixed success. Physical gifts and expertise don't necessarily translate between sports activities. There's no reason to believe that Michael Phelps would be a legendary basketball player, nor LeBron a legendary swimmer.

Nobody has ever just taken up being a goalie later in life & made it to the top so just going "Lebron would make it easy" is ridiculous. He might, but it's never been done so the point is moot.

The best 'athletes' are running track & field at the Olympics. I'm talking Sportsman, really.

Ronaldo is a miles more impressive Sportsman because he's one of the best of all time in a sport tried & played by billions that is a mixture of athleticism AND skill equally. Soccer isnt a flawed sport that gives an absurdly large advantage to people born to grow to a certain height. If you havent started playing soccer from a very early age & dont hone your skills repeatedly from said early age, then you have NO CHANCE of making it to the top. The skill level required for any position cant be counterbalanced by ...."well you're 7 feet tall", or "well, you've never kicked a ball before but you can run 100m in 9.9 so you might make it to the Premier league".

Wheres this idea that basketball players are super talented super athletes come from?

Their main skill is just being really tall. If that wasnt true, the average height wouldnt be 6'7 or something absurd. There are plenty of guys who made it to the NBA without picking up a ball until they were 17. Lol,thats ridiculous. Imagine a Premier league footballer not kicking a ball until the were 17 - you would have 0% chance of being a professional let alone a top one.

Google 'Ronaldo leap' & you'll see some impressive stuff there too. Takes a bit more than that to make it soccer though

I'm not talking about kicking. Ball-handling, be it soccer or basketball, is a precision skill. No 7' footer made it to the NBA after a late start by being a ball handler.

The reason nobody with LeBron's attributes ever took up being a goalie at 17 and made it to the Premiere League is because nobody with those attributes would ever choose soccer. Period.

Soccer is for manlets.

1 year training and we're all fucked
Both of you are complete fuckwits. LeBron had a 17 size shoe underneath his heel where he was landing. That caused the trip. Let LeBron plant his fucking feet, shove someone in the back while putting his sneakers underneath where they are landing. Then watch the results. By the way, they don't have sneakers in MMA.

When you account for weight classes, i'm really not sure Lebron is that much more athletic than Yoel Romero.

Lebron is built better for a wide variety of sports obviously but Yoel is perfection for fighting.... Just old
