But it is not just that. We should stay out of it from a political point as well.

Supporting the US in its endless oil wars has not been a good strategy for Germany.
In fact, Germany probably had the biggest downsides in all Western countries.
If anything we should be backing Assad here so that we can send back the Syrian refugees soon.
