They do speak Gaelic in Ireland. You're making no sense. The fight against the English was warfare. What you're describing is cultural. Are you so dumb you don't understand the difference?

It does make sense, ~2% of the Irish speak Irish as a native language, ~25% of the Irish can say and understand a few sentences. The language is practically dead. Go to Dagestan and you won't find a single person who doesn't speak his native language, whether it is Avar, Dargin, Lezgian, Nogai or whatever.

Edit:I should add there is a massive revival to learn gaelic recently and is the most learned language on duolingo atm.
