A Bellator broadcast is unwatchable

I'm talking watching it on Paramount, not Dazn.

Holy fuck. The first fight starts 24 minutes after the broadcast starts. Fight is over 41 mins into the broadcast, second fight starts half an hour later at 1:11 or so.

In between the fights you're watching the same fucking commercials for shitty reality shows over and over and over. Panels are way too long, intro vids are way too long, some of the entrances are way too long. National anthems before the main event which, lets face it, NOBODY fucking likes.

I realize a show needs to pace itself and it can't just be FIGHT FIGHT FIGHT in super quick succession, but their broadcasts plod along brutally slow.

I watched it after the fact on dazn and thought it was great. Skipped the commercials and watched whatever part of the broadcast that I didn’t feel like watching.

Ever since I got dazn for football, I can’t watch fights or even most sports live anymore, I’ll let them go an hour or so ahead and just skip to the action.

Fuck commercials.

Doesn't change the fact that the pace was slow as fuck! I'm not interested in watching 1 fight an hour... I started playing video games in between fights and even visited Pornhub a couple of times (for educational reasons).

You had an American, a Russian fighter, the national anthem.. It was 1988 all over again and I loved it.

Record and fast forward. Obviously commercials are necessary, but this broadcast had way too many - the most I think I’ve ever seen - by a massive margin.

TS you not alone in this.

It has been discuss by many in the MMA world on various radio, satellite, pod cast, etc that Bellator's flow on TV is just dreadful. I DVR every show. That back and fourth with like 7 different commentators is just awful and doesn't seem to add much to the show its self. If you want Glazer and whatever side kick crew with him have a 30 min lead in show to the event instead of the 4,523,400 showing of whatever movie before an event. But that would take some commitment from Paramount to do that and its painfully obvious they could careless about Bellator. To prove that all you have to ask yourself is when the last time you saw a rerun of a Bellator event or any highlight Bellator show????

I honestly can't remember the last time I watched a Bellator event live and when I did I can tell you for certain it was more back ground noise til a fight came on.

UFC has falling victim to this at times also. But more times than not it flows much better than Bellator, but still can be painful. I still DVR most of the events, but I seem to watch more of the event itself over Bellator.

UFC is a lot worst, first fight is 20 to 30 minutes into the broadcast, they have about 2 fights per hour plus you have to listen to a bunch of eggheads talk. Bellator is better. It is still on TV where you don't have to pay 2 or three times to watch fight. Notice Fox dropped UFC and went to boxing, much better anyway.

I haven't watched an entire PPV in years, it's painful to watch all the stuff in between fights. Same with UFC too. I usually skip to the announcements, and if it's Bruce Buffer I skip all the way to the clock starts ticking.

It literally was unwatchable for me. Comcast had it listed to start at 9pm PST but when I turned it on it was over and the movie Creed was on.

Ufc has to do that on their prelims because they have to put 4 fights on in a 2 hour time slot. Pace usually picks up once the main card starts

Paramount pacing is godawful

The issue is that there are television time blocks and MMA is an unpredictable sport. On last nights bellator card, fights either finished in the first round or went to a decision. On the main card, four out of the five fights finished in a total of 5:07 of fight time. With one going to a decision.

From a promotion perspective, they had a potential 1 hour and 25 minutes of fighting, and they got 1/4 of that while still being obligated to fill a three hour time block.

Could you imagine if they rushed a PPV? You just plopped down $60, have your friends over, fights start at 9 p.m. and by 10 o’clock the announcers are saying “see you next time...”
