This is the usual desperate attempt to appease that fear people have that the world isn't just f'cking ridiculous. There's no master puppet on this other than a pornographer in the Philippines and his crew of merry nerds who accidently hit a perfect mix of online RP and paranoia of a tired and confused group of US citizens.

The Watkins family almost certainly does have a handler. Could be US, is more likely Russia or China, but they are also almost certainly just trading their stupid power for avoidance of international crimes charges.

I think that's why it took off like it did. I have no clue how it started, it's so silly it's one of the few internet phenomena that never interested me so I haven't really dug into it.

I understand that every younger generation blames the one before (shout to Mike and the Mechanics) and every older generation thinks the younger generation is just the worst. But I think it's reasonable to say that the Baby Boomers, as a whole, are the most destructive generation of Americans. Gen-X and Millennials have an awful lot of catching up to do to even come close. All the whining that they do about Millennials is actually sort of comical, and seems to come from bitterness and projection. A lot of the things they whine about, regarding other generations, are actually traits that they exemplify as much as anybody.
