Fury vs Wilder III in Relation to the UFC/MMA Discussion Mega Thread

When are posters like you going to learn?

Fury kills the top 5 mma HWs in boxing
Fury loses in mma to those same HWs

They are two different sports. Wrap your head around it.

Well Fury is more talented than anyone in MMA that's for sure.

Define "talented"?, he certainly doesnt have the depth of fighting skills as someone like Gane and is probably not as athletic either. Its one thing to look slick, elusive, coordinated, mobile etc in a straight boxing match, very different when you've got a bunch of other shit coming at you plus the level changes involved in MMA.

Bizarre that this is even debated anymore in all honesty.

The best fighter in MMA currently is an ex low level boxer. His two best wins are also ex low levels boxers.

The question about ‘how does boxing translate to MMA’ was answered years ago, and it seems to be pretty well, up there with other legit combat sports, even when the boxer in question of pretty poor. The only interesting question now is how does elite boxing translate, and the logical conclusion is that they would likely do very well.

Even looking at the intangibles that make good fighters, they have them all by the absolute bucket load. Conditioned like the best wrestlers, with elite level punch resistance, hitting harder than anyone on the roster and coming from a sport where quitting is taboo enough to end a career. Obviously they’d do well.

Fury’s clinch game was terrible.

Lol this is highly disingenuous. Ngannou had his first pro MMA fight like a decade ago. Failed on his first title shot then had another 3 years to improve before winning the belt.

Its like saying Dillian Whyte is a low level ex-kickboxer.

He got dropped multiple times and looked tired during the fight.greg hardy would murder him

This is like watching an Olympic sprinter and thinking

“Yup, this guy could be a running back in the NFL”

Tyson Fury couldn't win a street-fight against Gane or Ngannou let alone an MMA fight.

Gane knocks Fury unconscious via a head kick within 30 seconds of an MMA fight. It takes a long time to learn how to block kicks, you don't just walk into an octagon and naturally get your guard up. UFC fans don't appreciate how dangerous a man with Ganes skills are to the untrained.

Frank Ngannou Kimuras Fury permanently ending his career. Tyson would have five inches on Frank but both walk around at the same weight and Ngannou is vastly stronger. This would be a straight up mauling.

Deontay Wilder on the other hand, he would make a good MMA fighter but definitely not Tyson Fury.

Fury should stick to the crooked sport that is boxing that is where he belongs.

Hilarious. Are you still upset that Wilder lost?

already saw it with toney. even if fury had 5x the TD defense, there are a million ways he could be beaten in an mma fight. if the guy trained mma, fine, maybe he has a chance. coming straight out of boxing - no way. puncher's chance in first few seconds and that's it.

UK MMA fighters don't even have good wrestling, let alone UK boxers

None of the top are Randy tho. They’re all strikers. Stipe has the best chance. DC could come out of retirement and slam him on his head tho which would be interesting. Lebron beats all of them tho. Including Fury in the ring.
<{ohyeah}>

Fury would never downgrade himself and switch to a bush league sport ran by a bush league company

What I saw from Tyson Fury tonight leads me to believe he would do very well in MMA and could potentially be a UFC champ. He 's the only boxer I can say that about.

Obviously he has the boxing skills and would be the best boxer in UFC history, but more importantly he has the grit and physicality of an mma fighter, which is something you rarely see from a boxer. What he did to Wilder tonight wasn't just boxing it was also grappling, dirty boxing, and mauling. The only thing Fury needs is some defensive wrestling. Honestly, he doesn't even need bjj. Guys like black beast and mark hunt had amazing careers with white belt level bjj. if fury learned how to defend doubles and singles he would never lose. His skill and talent are far above anything I see in the UFC heavyweight division at the moment

You really think hunt and lewis are only white belts? In-before you say they've never showed more. They have. You just don't know what jui jitsu is
