Social AOC blasts ‘Jesus gets us’ Super Bowl ads, says they endorse ‘fascism’

I wonder how many people would even have known that Hobby Lobby paid for the spots if not for her bringing it up? AOC doesn't hate Christianity, but she does love attention. Which isn't a crime, but I just can't buy that she's sooooo abhorred by Hobby Lobby that she just now felt she had to weigh in.

I'm not sure exactly the best way to put it but it seems like AOC's alleged issue is "Hey the message is fine but can we really look at who the message is coming from because they don't seem to practice what they preach." (Or something similar). The irony is that by being the one to bring this up publicly as someone with a huge platform, she's by default implying that as a public servant this "shedding light" or "exposing the truth" (or however we want to word it) is another way for her to serve her constituents or enlighten America or whatever. Yet she pulls dishonest idiocy like faking being handcuffed to try to dupe everyone into thinking she's some sort of martyr.

So if we've got a bunch of people now gonna look at these commercials (because of her bringing it up) as "Good message but the people paying for it don't adhere to the teachings they profess to endorse"...then we'd also apply it to her? "Maybe Hobby Lobby isn't in fact doing a good job themselves following the teachings of Jesus, but the one who wanted the truth about them brought into the spotlight herself has a history of being dishonest to the public..."

TLDR: Hard to take her seriously when she's calling others hypocrites given her track record.

You're setting up an impossible standard where no one can say anything about anything if you are able to dig up any real or perceived instance of hypocrisy from them.
And if you're starting point with AOC is always "she just wants attention and isn't genuine" then there's nothing she can say or do that will ever be correct or genuine.

As a politician that is representing the people, isn't it her duty to let people know about groups like Hobby Lobby?
Can we just look at the facts and add them up here: * One of the main issues that AOC specifically and often talks about is the harm that money in politics does. She talks about this every time she speaks.
*Now, we're seeing Republicans attacking abortion rights. * Hobby Lobby is currently funding legal cases to fight abortion. * They have a history of funding stuff like this. * They fund an add on the biggest day for ads preaching a message about unity that they aren't following.
All of these things put together, and you guys are acting as if she just randomly picked on a random Christian company that wasn't doing anything political. With all of these facts at play you've reduced her position down to her just wanting attention.

I'm not sure exactly the best way to put it but it seems like AOC's alleged issue is "Hey the message is fine but can we really look at who the message is coming from because they don't seem to practice what they preach."

But obviously the message is fine. The fact that we have to always start conversations with "Now, AOC is not okay with eating babies/doesn't want to see puppies curb stomped/isn't against kindness" is absurd and it taints the whole discussion because the starting point is always bad faith.
This isn't a matter of pointing out hypocrisy for the sake of pointing out hypocrisy. This isn't a "Who is the better Christian" contest. The point here is that what Hobby Lobby is saying is bullshit. AOC is saying that this group right here is trying to portray itself as moral and loving in a fluffy ad, while simulatenously funding discrimination. Don't be fooled by them. Pay attention to the messenger and why they're doing what they're doing because they're not honest actors.

And you're further proving my point with your example of AOC's so-called hypocrisy. You don't like AOC from the jump, so you believe whatever negative narrative you hear about her and ignore everything else.
AOC was arrested and fined. What is fake about the picture? When you get arrested, you put your hands behind your back. AOC explained this when questioned. It's best practice to put your hands behind your back so the police know where they're at and you don't get some BS charge of resisting arrest added on. Pretty simple. But you guys spin this into nonsense.

In order for your narrative to make sense, AOC has to be so stupid that she thought the only person that would take and post her photo was one of her staffers.
She is at a protest in broad daylight with tons of other people. Why would she think she could "trick" people into thinking she was handcuffed when we clearly see that she isn't? There are eyewitnesses, cameras, police, and the press all there. You're position is that she was simply too stupid to account for this?
This whole narrative was built on nothing but bad will.

You guys say that AOC is an attention whore as if she is some random Tik Tok college girl. Her literal job is to bring ATTENTION to issues for her constituents.
The act of just putting up a Tweet is seeking personal attention to you guys. If AOC was as much of an attention whore as you guys made her out to be, we would see and hear her so much more because there is no shortage of TV shows and new outlets that would love to have her on. How often do you see her on TV, doing press conferences, or other events? She doesn't even come on left wing shows.
She's not seeking attention, you guys give it to her no matter what she says or does.
To my original point, what you guys perceive AOC to be is often not accurate and then it results in making a bunch of false and inaccurate conclusions.

its not that she says some brain dead shit, or what she looks like, or that she's an idealist, or seeking attention. It is that she openly makes disparaging remarks about this beautiful nation while serving in it's goverment. It should not surprise you that she is disliked by a good portion of the nation.

A good portion of the nation has the critical thinking skills of a slow toddler, so, no, it is no surprise.

You made some broad, meaningless statement that doesnt address a single thing that I said. The job of a politician is not to just be an asskissing cheerleader.

yeah I totally agree. Case in point a good portion of this nation do not realize that the Democratic party of the United States Of America fought against freeing slaves. That the sitting President of the United States of America was a pro segrationist in his formative years https://www.nbcnews.com/news/nbcblk...mise-segregationists-he-fought-their-n1021626

And that segment of the population believes that they are the party that loves minorities.

Come on Sherbro you really don’t believe that do you (r.e the hands behind the back situation). Why did she cry after the iron dome vote when she refused to vote no. It’s theatre. I’m sure she was aware cameras were at every angle but all that matters what photos were pushed out and retweeted by her aides and supporters. She was absolutely trying to imply she was handcuffed and it was a rousing success as it was the first image that appeared in most publications. Not the second one.

Now there could be a legitimate argument that such a stunt brings eyes and draws attention to the issue and as you said that’s her job/duty. Having said that she absolutely was trying to portray the image of being handcuffed.

You do know that Falwell Jr was a school administrator and it was his brother that is a preacher?
Falwell Jr hands out the endorsements and not the brother. Falwell Jr has expelled students for having pre marital sex. Too bad some of those male students were not hot enough for his wife, because they could have had all the sex they wanted.

https://nypost.com/2023/02/13/aoc-accuses-christian-super-bowl-ad-of-making-fascism-look-benign/

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is under fire for claiming that Super Bowl ads meant to share Jesus Christ’s message of love were trying to “make fascism look benign.”

The Bronx and Queens “Squad” Democrat went on the attack late Sunday after two commercials were aired with the tagline “He Gets Us.”

“Something tells me Jesus would not spend millions of dollars on Super Bowl ads to make fascism look benign,” AOC wrote on Twitter.

The first ad that aired Sunday night urged viewers to be more childlike and featured kids of different races embracing each other. The other showed images of violent confrontations before displaying text reading: “Jesus loved the people we hate.”

.... Read More.

Here are some of the commercials. Judge for yourselves.

All it takes is a little call for unity and understanding to freak out a Radical Democrat.

At this point, AOC is mostly worthless.

Walk me through the logic of her supposedly pretending to be handcuffed.
What is the point of pretending to be handcuffed when she was verifiably arrested and fined? Being arrested isn't enough?
So she planned this before hand? Or, as she was getting arrested she thought "Hm, this will look better if I pretend that I got handcuffed"? Why not pretend to fall too and act as if she was pushed? Why don't we see her do more TV appearances and interviews if this is all about attention?

It makes no sense to "pretend" to be handcuffed. It serves no purpose. She was in broad daylight surrounded by people. She has no control over what pictures of her from what angle gets posted to the internet.

There is a very, SIMPLE reason why someone puts their hands behind their back when they're getting arrested (BECAUSE THAT IS LITERALLY HOW EVERYONE ARRESTED GETS ARRESTED) and instead of that, you guys make up these really dumb conspiracy theories that don't make any sense. Dumb shit like this is exactly why it is impossible to have serious conversations because you focus on these stories that you make up in your heads.
It's Twitter brain rot at this point because you can't look at anything objectively.

There are PLENTY of actual things to criticize AOC on, like in this case, her use of 'fascism'. She can be hyperbolic and overly emotional.
But, "She pretended to be handcuffed because...reasons...in broad daylight, surrounded by witnesses and cameras that would show otherwise" is straight up retarded nonsense.

The logic is very simple. A picture is worth a thousand words, as I said it was pure theatre on her behalf just like crying outside the detention facility. Just like crying after the iron dome vote despite not voting ‘no’. I find it laughable that anyone would actually believe it was not her intention. Is it a hangable offence? No. Is it the worst thing she’s ever done? No. It is something she did none the less.

I don't really give her attention aside from here and only even knew about her stunt (and yes, despite her "explanation" I think it was a stunt) because of this forum. You dont cross your hands behind your back and keep them there when being arrested unless the police tell you they're cuffing you, and I highly doubt she worked through all the photo scenarios in her head as it happened. I think it was a spur or the moment action meant to garner attention that she didn't really think through.

You can believe it or not, I really don't think or care much about AOC. I commented here because I happened to remember this handcuff thing. You could search my post history and might not find even one other post about her. So the "you guys give her attention" wouldn't really apply to me.

And my point wasn't that it's an impossible standard to where she shouldn't be ALLOWED to comment on something like this. My post was that I'll show her the same level of skepticism as my source as she is hoping we show to Hobby Lobby as the source for those commercials.

Real life doesn't get summed up in proverbs.
"A picture is worth a thousand words" ? Show me a man that needs a thousand words to describe a picture, and i'll show you a blabbering fool. It's not even "a" picture. That was one picture out of thousands/+video that was chosen. You can attach any fantasy story that you want to a picture.

You don't make any sort of logical sense which is why you guys have to jump from topic to topic to try and drown me in your AOC fan fiction.
"pure theatre" doesn't explain anything. You have nothing to back up what you're saying but your dislike of her, because you are incapable of objectively looking at facts.
It literally makes not one iota of sense to pretend to be handcuffed, because if anything, it goes AGAINST what she is trying to do because the focus of the story gets turned into stupid conversations like this instead of the issue of abortion.
So in your mind, this young, liberal woman doesn't even actually care about abortion or women's rights. She's just there for the selfies.
You guys can't just disagree with someone, they have to also be literally retarded or evil as well.

Are you seriously arguing that AOC doesn't grandstand for attention? People are just pointing out the obvious, and you're getting all mad like you're defending your wife's honor or some shit. Whether or not she actually believes in what she's protesting/arguing for is up for debate, but there's no debating that she hams it up for the cameras a lot. Most politicians do. She just happens to be more obvious than most, because she's not a great actress.

Where are you getting any of that absolute drivel from. “You people” who the fuck are you talking about? Where have I referred to her as being evil or a retard? Where did I say she didn’t care about abortion rights? Nowhere. As for the rest your retort if you fail to see the obvious logic there’s nothing more to say to you except enjoy your weekend

So despite all logic and reason you stick to an opinion that doesn't make any sense.
It somehow makes more sense to pretend to be handcuffed in broad day light, surrounded by witnesses and cameras to gain.....nothing.
That somehow makes more sense than putting your hands behind your back because that is literally how anyone that gets arrested would get arrested? If that's your final answer, there's not much else to say about your charity when it comes to your skepticism.

You didn't even address what her actual issue is--it's not even "her" issue, as she isn't the only one that has said it, so you don't even need to make this about AOC.
I know you don't think you set an impossible standard, I am saying that is the standard you have set. If she's too stupid, or too much of an attention whore to get fake hand cuffed (but real arrested) in broad day light surounded by crowds and cameras then there isn't anything she'll ever be able to say or do that will come off as authentic.

That somehow makes more sense than putting your hands behind your back because that is literally how anyone that gets arrested would get arrested?

Yeah, before you get cuffed. If you're not cuffed, however, it is absolutely not normal to walk around and pretend that you are. Which is what she did. What is your reasoning for her holding her hands behind her back, and pretending to be cuffed? It wasn't a flash in time, where her hands were there for a second or two because she thought she was being cuffed. She walked around pretending to be cuffed.

Jesus would despise Trump.
Trump got the Christian endorsement because he found out Jerry Falwell Jr liked to watch his wife get drill pressed by the pool boy.
According to the pool boy if Jerry Jr was going to eat a pie he would prefer it to be full of cream.
Are you saying Jerry Jr is gay, fat or both?
