Yes, the fighters that train boxing as part of their sport are worse at boxing than the fighters who train absolutely nothing related to MMA outside of boxing are at MMA, makes total sense.

Of course in reality boxers lose more quickly and easily in MMA than MMA fighters do in boxing. Do elite MMA fighters go life and death against opponents with 1-2 records in boxing the way Claressa Shields just did vs some soccer mom that she was supposed to look good against?

I would expect that boxers would lose at MMA against MMA fighters and that MMA fighters would lose against boxers in boxing. But the fact is that boxers have found real success in MMA, even if not all of them win. And the amount of success boxers have found in MMA greatly eclipses the amount of success MMA fighters have found in boxing.

I don't see him headlining anymore big boxing events for 10-20 million against a name like AJ or Fury. He could probably still make a couple million on somebody elses undercard though. Not sure if he'd rather do that than fight in PFL for roughly the same money as a main event. I guess it depends on how truly fucked his knees are.

It hasn't sunk in yet for y'all but this isn't just about Francis, it's about the whole sport of MMA. Ngannou was MMA's last chance to get some credibility after numerous embarrassments - a chain that was kicked off in recent years by Mayweather vs McGregor. Ngannou, in a roundabout way, won his fight with the UFC by permanently damaging its reputation as a real sport.

Holly Holm who was a kickboxer first, won her fight with a head kick, and had been competing in MMA professionally for 5 years when she fought Rousey.

Tim Sylvia, who wasnt a champion anymore, is considered one of the worst UFC HW champs ever, was on a 2 fight losing streak, lost 3 of his last 4 and had been stopped in 36 seconds in his last fight.

And again, Ray Mercer, 1-3 in combat sports outside of boxing.

Ngannou in most peoples eyes beat a world champion no1 ranked boxer in his boxing debut.....
