So Cody Garbrandt is done right?

Looked good on his feet to me. He just has very bad bottom game. His striking and wrestling is great but no bottom jitz.

He could've survived the minute that was left in that round too but he chose to recklessly scramble to his feet and exposed his back instead of trying to hold on and ride out the clock on bottom.

I dunno,

He looked good last night. He's old as hell for the weightclass (Edit: no he isn't, I thought he was older) but he's also above average talent, so he could have a few interesting fights left in him.

Cody is one of the worst examples of potential not met. He showed some serious signs of excellence and then seemingly had a lot of his ability beaten out of him in brutal finish losses. He's still really good, though. Underrated, especially if he can fight smart. It's too late now for him to reach great status, but he should have enough left in the tank for a few good fights.

he gave up, the choke wasn't in, he had no will whatsoever.

As top level contender, he's been done for a while, but he's still quite capable if he's matched up against fringe top 15 guys like he should be.

If the Fig fight had happened at 125 when it was originally scheduled when Fig was in his peak form, he might actually be done. I think that he would've been brutally KO'd.

If he needs to live in Las Vegas, he needs to fully commit to a team and join Xtreme Couture or Syndicate and:
1) have a corner with grappling coaches and gameplan specialists and not only striking coaches/pad work specialists
2) develop connections with either Merab and Sterling if he goes to Syndicate or Albazi, Stamann, and Basharats at Xtreme maybe with Shields as a grappling coach
Yesterday, he looked awful on the ground and like unprepared

He’s not going to be a champion or serious contender again. The Kelleher and Jones fight showed he can beat guys further down. Think borderline top 15 is about as good as he can do at this point.

No? I don’t think so. If anything he was pretty defensively sound last night right up until he got put on the ground.

Had never seen Cody controlled in the grappling like that. Was a little weird.

All of that being said, he may draw more money in BKFC or something.

Nah, he won his last 2 before this, and had some good moments in the fight. I think he gets at least one more.

Those last two were cans. Not sure Kelleher is still in the UFC, but the other guy got cut.

He's done at any sort of high level.

If matched against non-grappler, he can still hang. As others have said, he looked sharp standing.

No there's still some juice left to squeeze from him.

Cody will be solidly competitive with top 11-20 and can occasionally beat guys in the top 10. His days as a title challenger are long gone and will never return.

Keep in mind Figgy is an absolute murderer. If he was a few years younger, he would be an immediate threat to the title at 135lbs. He's good at everything, experienced and has an innate killer instinct.

Both guys belong in the UFC bantamweight division, but they should not have been booked together. Figgy needs to fight up the rankings, Cody needs to fight down.

He was a while ago. He can beat some mediocre fighters but he won’t ever challenge for a belt or even be a serious contender.
If he wants to grind out a living that way then he can make some money just because he was champion once
