Gatsby is in 3D ?? Talk about trying to maximize the returns

This movie is going to suck very very bad.
Its catering to the 15-18 age group with the 3D & god awful/ out of place soundtrack.

Couple that with a Toby McGuire voice over....oh boy

I don't even know who came up with the idea of including McGuire. We all know this is going to bomb, heads will roll, I want to know if it was someone in the upper echelons or some random sob that is going to be hung out to dry.

It's a damn shame too. Dicaprio looks amazing in the role, but the movie itself will kill his chances at getting nominated.

Yeah and its a shame too because DiCaprio and Mulligan can easily carry this movie , but it seems like the Director is going for Style over Substance

Three Directors in Contention to Helm FAST & FURIOUS 7

Fast-Furious-6-Plan-Dragonlord.jpg

Earlier this week, Fast & Furious 6 director Justin Lin confirmed that he would not be returning to helm a seventh installment of the high-octane franchise. Though the sixth entry has yet to hit theaters, star Vin Diesel has suggested that production on the next film could start shooting as early as this summer, meaning that Universal needs to find a new director ASAP. While there are likely plenty of takers for the job, three individuals have emerged at the top contenders: Jeff Wadlow (Kick-Ass 2), Brad Furman (The Lincoln Lawyer), and Harald Zwart (The Karate Kid).

While it was generally assumed that Lin would return for Fast & Furious 7, the director bowed out after Universal expressed the hope that the movie would be ready for a 2014 release. Lin, who’s probably suffering from franchise fatigue by now (he’s directed the past four installments), claimed “the rush would not result in his best work” and exited the project, leaving the studio scrambling to find a replacement. Latino Review reported early this morning that Universal had narrowed the hunt down to the three mentioned above.

7. 2nd Trailer for THE MORTAL INSTRUMENTS: CITY OF BONES

Mortal-Instruments-Godfrey-Gao-Dragonlord.jpg

A new trailer for director Harald Zwart’s The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones has gone online and features a lot of new action footage. It’s got a cool aesthetic that actually looks rather inviting. The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones, based on the Cassandra Clare novel, stars Lily Collins, Lena Headey, Robert Sheehan, Jamie Campbell Bower, Jonathan Rhys Meyers, Kevin Zegers, Kevin Durand, Jared Harris and CCH Pounder. The film opens on August 23rd, 2013.

Synopsis: When fifteen-year-old Clary Fray heads out to the Pandemonium Club in New York City, she hardly expects to witness a murder—much less a murder committed by three teenagers covered with strange tattoos and brandishing bizarre weapons. Then the body disappears into thin air. It’s hard to call the police when the murderers are invisible to everyone else and when there is nothing—not even a smear of blood—to show that a boy has died. Or was he a boy?

This is Clary’s first meeting with the Shadowhunters, warriors dedicated to ridding the earth of demons. It’s also her first encounter with Jace, a Shadowhunter who looks a little like an angel and acts a lot like a jerk. Within twenty-four hours Clary is pulled into Jace’s world with a vengeance, when her mother disappears and Clary herself is attacked by a demon. But why would demons be interested in ordinary mundanes like Clary and her mother? And how did Clary suddenly get the Sight? The Shadowhunters would like to know…

8. First Trailer for Dennis Dugan's Comedy Sequel, GROWN UPS 2

Grown-Ups-2-First-Image-Dragonlord.jpg

Columbia Pictures has released the first trailer for director Dennis Dugan’s comedy sequel Grown Ups 2. After you get past the deer piss, there are a couple of ridiculous cameos from Shaquille O’Neal and Andy Samberg that are nice throwbacks to the zany Adam Sandler movies of old. There’s also a nice flip on the “hot girl car trouble” scene from the first film. And believe it or not, this might be a role that Lautner was Taylor-made for. The film stars also Kevin James, Chris Rock, David Spade, Salma Hayek, Maria Bello, Maya Rudolph, Nick Swardson and Patrick Schwarzenegger. Grown Ups 2 opens on July 12th.

Synopsis: The all-star comedy cast from Grown Ups returns (with some exciting new additions) for more summertime laughs. Lenny (Adam Sandler) has relocated his family back to the small town where he and his friends grew up. This time around, the grown ups are the ones learning lessons from their kids on a day notoriously full of surprises: the last day of school.

9. 2nd Trailer for James Wan's Horror Film, THE CONJURING

The-Conjuring-Wilson-Farmiga-0401-Dragonlord.jpg

Warner Bros. has released the first full-length trailer for director James Wan’s (Saw, Insidious) upcoming horror film The Conjuring. The film is based on the story of the Perron family who inhabited a haunted Rhode Island farmhouse in the 1970s. Lili Taylor and Ron Livingston play the Perrons, and Vera Farmiga and Patrick Wilson play a husband and wife team of psychic investigators who encounter the most horrifying case of their career.

The first trailer for the film was a genuinely terrifying clip that showcased the kinds of scares Wan has crafted for this latest horror pic, and this new full trailer is no less terrifying. Wan recently told the audience at WonderCon that the film received an R-rating simply for being “too scary.” The pic also stars Joey King and Mackenzie Foy. The Conjuring opens on July 19th.

Synopsis: Before there was Amityville, there was Harrisville. Based on a true story, “The Conjuring” tells the horrifying tale of how world-renowned paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren were called upon to help a family terrorized by a dark presence in a secluded farmhouse. Forced to confront a powerful demonic entity, the Warrens find themselves caught in the most terrifying case of their lives.

10. Five Clips, Featurettes and B-Roll Footage for OBLIVION

Oblivion-Chasm-Dragonlord.jpg

Universal Pictures has released a bunch of new clips, featurettes and B-roll footage from Joseph Kosinski's much-anticipated sci-fi flick, Oblivion. The B-roll video features over ten minutes of cool behind-the-scenes footage on the making of the film. The film, directed by Joseph Kosinski (TRON: Legacy), stars Tom Cruise as Jack Harper, a veteran sent on a mission to Earth 60 years after everything on the planet has been obliterated. The first of these featurettes shows the visually-stunning canvas that encompasses the world of Oblivion, while Cruise and Kosinski talk about its “haunting beauty” and the decision to make the film in IMAX full frame.

The second featurette is a behind-the-scenes look at the making of the film in the desolate, volcanic landscapes of Iceland. The stunning setting is sure to be a hit with IMAX viewers and quite the treat for the eyes. Oblivion opens in theaters April 19, 2013 and also stars Morgan Freeman, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, and Olga Kurylenko.

11. New Featurette for CLOUDY WITH A CHANCE OF MEATBALLS 2

cloudy-with-a-chance-of-meatballs-slice.jpg

Sony Pictures Animation has released a new featurette for Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2. The plot revolves around Flint Lockwood (Bill Hader) and Sam Sparks (Anna Faris) returning to Swallow Falls to clean up the mess created by the FLDSMDFR, only to find that food is now taking on the form of mutant beasts.

In the featurette, Terry Crews, who has replaced Mr. T as the voice of Earl Devereaux, shows us some more of the strange pun-christened leftovers that inhabit Swallow Falls. I’m not sure if the puns will be carrying the whole marketing campaign, but they’re working for now. Of course, everything works better when you add Terry Crews.

The film also features the voices of Andy Samberg, Benjamin Bratt, and Neil Patrick Harris. Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2 opens in 3D on September 27th.

12. Red Band Trailer for PINEAPPLE EXPRESS 2

Pineapple-Express-2-Seth-Rogen-James-Franco-slice.jpg

With Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg‘s This is The End opening June 14, the filmmakers and Sony are about to ramp up the promotional machine by releasing a red band trailer tonight, and a green band trailer later this week.

However, while you wait for new footage from their great looking end of the world R rated comedy that stars everyone in Hollywood (Rogen, Jonah Hill, James Franco, Jason Segel, Danny McBride, Craig Robinson, Michael Cera, Emma Watson, Paul Rudd, Jay Baruchel, Mindy Kaling, Kevin Hart, Martin Starr and more), how about getting to see the first footage from Pineapple Express 2!

While clearly an April Fool’s gag and obviously made on the set of This is The End during a lunch break, getting to see Rogen, Franco, McBride and Robinson reprise their characters is still a lot of fun.

13. New Trailer for THE GREAT GATSBY Highlights Eclectic Soundtrack

the-great-gatsby-slice2.jpg

Warner Bros. has released a new trailer for director Baz Luhrmann’s The Great Gatsby. For those unfamiliar with F. Scott Fitzgerald‘s source material, the story centers on a would-be writer (Tobey Maguire) chasing the American dream who moves to New York City in the spring of 1922 and encounters a mysterious millionaire named Jay Gatsby (Leonardo DiCaprio). This new trailer has a heavy focus on the relationship between Gatsby and Daisy (Carey Mulligan), while also giving us a strong dose of Joel Edgerton‘s Tom Buchanan.

Again Luhrmann’s vibrant visuals look fantastic, but the trailer also showcases a bounty of original music that the director has commissioned for the film from artists like Beyonce, Andre 3000, Lana Del Rey, and Florence + The Machine. There’s a strong Romeo + Juliet vibe in this trailer. The film also stars Isla Fisher, Jason Clarke, and Adelaide Clemens. The Great Gatsby opens in 3D on May 10th.

14. GREETINGS FROM TIM BUCKLEY Trailer Starring Penn Badgley

greetings-from-tim-buckley-slice.jpg

The first trailer for writer/director Daniel Algrant’s Greetings from Tim Buckley is now available. The film stars Penn Badgley (Gossip Girl) as a young Jeff Buckley in the early 90s who gets to know a young woman (Imogen Poots) while rehearsing for a tribute show to his late father folk-singer Tim Buckley. As Jeff attempts to form his own identity in the shadow of the legacy of a man he barely knew, he also finds comfort in this new relationship as they explore New York City. The film also stars Ben Rosenfield in flashbacks to the elder Buckley’s 1960s experiences.

Synopsis: GREETINGS FROM TIM BUCKLEY is a mesmerizing portrayal of two generations of musicians. In 1991, a young Jeff Buckley (Penn Badgley, “Gossip Girl”) rehearses for his public singing debut at a Brooklyn tribute show for his father, the late folk singer Tim Buckley. Struggling with the legacy of a man he barely knew, Jeff finds solace in a relationship with an enigmatic young woman (Imogen Poots, 28 Weeks Later) working at the show. As they explore New York City, their adventures recall glimpses of Tim’s (Ben Rosenfield) 1960s heyday.

15. First Trailer for THE ENGLISH TEACHER Starring Julianne Moore

julianne-moore-the-english-teacher-slice.jpg

The first trailer for director Craig Zisk’s comedy The English Teacher has been released online. The film stars Julianne Moore as a high school English teacher whose life takes a turn when one of her favorite students (Michael Angarano) returns to his hometown as a failed playwright. The teacher convinces her former pupil to stage the unproduced play at her school, but all does not go according to plan.

The comedy appears to be of the screwball variety, with plenty of pratfalls and physical comedy on full display in this here trailer (plus a solid David Mamet joke thrown in for good measure). There does seem to be a strong emphasis on character, though, and it should be interesting to see how the numerous relationships teased in this clip play out in the full film. The film also stars Greg Kinnear, Lily Collins, and Nathan Lane. The English Teacher opens on May 17th.

16. First Clip from IRON MAN 3 Shows Stark's Message to the Mandarin

Iron-Man-3-Stark-Press-Dragonlord.jpg

Marvel has released the first clip from Iron Man 3. Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) has always had an odd relationship with the press, whether he’s sleeping with them asking them to sit down on the ground, or telling them he’s Iron Man. This time around, he uses the press to deliver a direct threat to the Mandarin (Ben Kingsley) with the promise of “good, old-fashioned revenge.” The film also stars Gwyneth Paltrow, Don Cheadle, Rebecca Hall, and Guy Pearce. Iron Man 3 opens in 3D on May 3rd.

Synopsis: Marvel’s Iron Man 3 pits brash-but-brilliant industrialist Tony Stark/Iron Man against an enemy whose reach knows no bounds. When Stark finds his personal world destroyed at his enemy’s hands, he embarks on a harrowing quest to find those responsible. This journey, at every turn, will test his mettle. With his back against the wall, Stark is left to survive by his own devices, relying on his ingenuity and instincts to protect those closest to him. As he fights his way back, Stark discovers the answer to the question that has secretly haunted him: does the man make the suit or does the suit make the man?

17. First Footage from THE HUNGER GAMES: CATCHING FIRE Trailer

the-hunger-games-catching-fire-slice.jpg

The first trailer for director Francis Lawrence’s (I Am Legend) highly anticipated sequel The Hunger Games: Catching Fire is set to debut during the MTV Movie Awards later this month, and now a promo for the event has been released online that gives us our first look at footage from the film.

The video teases a look at the “Victory Tour” that Jennifer Lawrence’s Katniss and Josh Hutcherson’s Peeta embark on at the beginning of Catching Fire as part of their duties as Hunger Games victors. Liam Hemsworth will introduce the two-and-a-half minutes of footage during the MTV Movie Awards on Sunday, April 14th at 9pm ET/PT, so check back here on Collider at that time to watch the full trailer.

The film also stars Sam Claflin, Elizabeth Banks, Woody Harrelson, Donald Sutherland, Philip Seymour Hoffman, Jena Malone, Jeffrey Wright, and Amanda Plummer. The Hunger Games: Catching Fire opens on November 22nd in IMAX and traditional theaters.

18. THE AVENGERS Deleted Scenes and IRON MAN 2 Alternate Ending

Avengers-Ending-Shawarma-Dragonlord.jpg

Marvel finally released the massive Marvel Cinematic Universe: Phase One box set earlier this week, and included in the collection is a bounty of extras from the studio’s past and future films. We’ve already seen a collection of images, video, and concept art for a few of the Phase Two films, and today quite a few deleted scenes from The Avengers and Iron Man 2 have surfaced online.

The Avengers scenes are minor bits and pieces that were nipped out of the finished film, but the Iron Man 2 footage is fascinating because it reveals an alternate ending for the film that involves Mickey Rourke’s Whiplash kidnapping Gwyneth Paltrow’s Pepper. It’s rather anticlimactic and it’s not hard to see why Jon Favreau went back and reshot the ending that now concludes the final iteration of the film.

7. Brad Pitt to Star in David Ayer's WWII Tank Action Pic FURY

brad-pitt-slice.jpg

It looks like Brad Pitt might be getting in the driver’s seat of a tank in Fury, the World War II pic from writer/director David Ayer (End of Watch). Reports have Pitt in final negotiations to lead the picture, which “takes place in 1945 as the Nazi regime collapses and the five man crew of an American tank called Fury battles a desperate German army.” Ayer previously said that his goal with the film is “to bring tank combat to life in a way that lands with a modern audience.” With Pitt possibly on board, Ayer will certainly have that audience to play to.

Deadline reports that Pitt is in final talks to star in Fury, but no casting details have been released. Ayer plans to start production on Fury this September. QED International picked up Ayer’s spec script earlier this year for a cool million. The director and QED previously teamed on the adaptation of the Agatha Christie short story Ten Little Indians, titled Ten. Starring Arnold Schwarzenegger, Sam Worthington and Mireille Enos, Ten centers on members of an elite DEA task force who find themselves being taken down one-by-one after they rob a drug cartel safe house. Ten is due out January 24, 2014.

8. Benedict Cumberbatch and Jessica Chastain Join CRIMSON PEAK

Cumberbatch-Chastain-Crimson-Peak-Dragonlord.jpg

The cast for director Guillermo del Toro’s next film, the haunted house thriller Crimson Peak, just keeps getting better. Emma Stone and Charlie Hunnam (Sons of Anarchy) are already set to lead the pic, and now none other than Benedict Cumberbatch (Sherlock) and Jessica Chastain (Zero Dark Thirty have signed on to join the cast. The immensely talented del Toro previously described the project as “very set-oriented, classical but at the same time modern take on the ghost story. It will allow me to play with the conventions of the genre I know and love, and at the same time subvert the old rules.”

Crimson Peak will reteam Chastain with del Toro, who exec produced the horror film Mama, in which she starred. Plot details are unknown at this time as del Toro and Lucinda Coxon work through a rewrite on a script del Toro and Matthew Robins originally penned. Legendary will produce and be a participating financing partner on the movie, with Universal Pictures retaining an option to finance at a later date. The film is set to begin shooting in February 2014.

9. Chloe Moretz and Nicholas Hoult Join DARK PLACES

Chloe-Moretz-Nicholas-Hoult-Dark-Places-Dragonlord.jpg

In February, Charlize Theron signed on to play the film's female lead in the Gillian Flynn adaptation of Dark Places, and earlier this week Chloe Moretz entered into talks for the mysterious role of Diondra. (Warning: looking for details on this character leads to spoilers.) Today Deadline reports Nicholas Hoult, who recently fronted Warm Bodies and Jack the Giant Slayer, has joined the growing ensemble.

Theron will star as Libby Day, a lonely woman who twenty-five years before narrowly escaped the horrific murder spree that took her mother and sisters, and left her brooding teen brother the only suspect. The novel begins in the present, but flashes back to the past as Libby reconsiders what might have happened that fateful night, beginning an amateur investigation that rattles her view of her mother, brother, and much, much more. Helping her in the investigation will be Hoult's character, Lyle, a young man who is the treasurer for a group of creepy but well-intentioned murder mystery enthusiasts called the Kill Club.

10. Will Arnett Joins the Cast of the NINJA TURTLES Reboot

Will-Arnett-Ninja-Turtles-Dragonlord.jpg

Will Arnett (Arrested Development) has joined Megan Fox as one of the leads in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, being made by Paramount and Michael Bay's Platinum Dunes production banner. Jonathan Liebesman is directing the live-action/CG hybrid take on the classic 1980s characters that debuted in an indie comic before going on to become a massively popular cartoon and merchandising line.

Fox is playing the turtles’ friend April O’Neil. Inhabiting the mo-cap shells are up-and-comers Alan Ritchson, Pete Ploszek, Jeremy Howard and Noel Fisher. Arnett’s role is being kept secret, though still uncast from the Ninja Turtles mythology are Splinter, the turtles' sensei rat, and the villainous and masked Shredder. Arnett is not playing the turtles' human friend Casey, another role that has yet to be cast.

The script is by Josh Appelbaum and Andre Nemec (Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol). Producing the movie are Bay and his Platinum Dune partners. Paramount has set a June 6, 2014, release for Ninja Turtles.

11. New Title, Release Date and Story Details for FINDING NEMO 2

finding-dory-slice-1.jpg

Press Release: When Dory said “just keep swimming” in 2003’s Oscar-winning film Finding Nemo, she could not have imagined what was in store for her (not that she could remember). Ellen DeGeneres, voice of the friendly-but-forgetful blue tang fish, revealed details today about Disney•Pixar’s Finding Dory—an all-new big-screen adventure diving into theaters on Nov. 25, 2015.

“I have waited for this day for a long, long, long, long, long, long time,” said DeGeneres. “I’m not mad it took this long. I know the people at Pixar were busy creating ‘Toy Story 16.’ But the time they took was worth it. The script is fantastic. And it has everything I loved about the first one: It’s got a lot of heart, it’s really funny, and the best part is—it’s got a lot more Dory.”

Director and Pixar veteran Andrew Stanton takes audiences back to the extraordinary underwater world created in the original film. “There is no Dory without Ellen,” said Stanton. “She won the hearts of moviegoers all over the world—not to mention our team here at Pixar. One thing we couldn’t stop thinking about was why she was all alone in the ocean on the day she met Marlin. In ‘Finding Dory,’ she will be reunited with her loved ones, learning a few things about the meaning of family along the way.”

According to Stanton, “Finding Dory” takes place about a year after the first film, and features returning favorites Marlin, Nemo and the Tank Gang, among others. Set in part along the California coastline, the story also welcomes a host of new characters, including a few who will prove to be a very important part of Dory’s life.

12. Guillermo del Toro Talks DARK UNIVERSE, Adds the Floronic Man

Guillermo-Floronic-Man-Dark-Universe-Dragonlord.jpg

The strangeness of Warner Bros. trying to put together their superhero proprieties is perhaps best illustrated by the fact that Dark Universe might hit the big screen before Justice League. The project might eventually be titled “Justice League Dark” and it will be a band of DC Comics anti-heroes rather than the mainstream superheroes. In a recent interview at WonderCon, del Toro talks about Dark Universe, his reveal of another character on the team, his personal attachment to the material, the status of screenplay:

"The route we’re going is Constantine is our lead. Constantine is the guy who leads us in and out of the plot. We have Swamp Thing, Etrigan, we have Zatanna, we have—I will spoil it—the Floronic Man. We have stuff that those who love the darker side of the DC Universe are going to appreciate, and we’re trying to be true to the origins of the characters."

"I’m literally playing with two of my oldest and most favorite characters in my life—Swamp Thing and Etrigan. These were the guys I was drawing with crayons when I was a kid. I cannot tell you how happy I am, but I am finishing my bible, and then I deliver that bible, which is about 45 pages, to Warners, and we have a screenwriter that we like and that we talk to, but he is writing his own movie right now and is thinking about it. But I am going to try to wait for him."

"I won’t say who [the screenwriter] is. I’m not allowed. But we’re waiting, and when the right time comes, hopefully that writer will take over, and then we’ll see if it’s directed by me or someone else and I’ll just produce. I don’t know."

13. Promo Passports Reveal the First Look at SNOWPIERCER Cast

snowpiercer-chris-evans-passport-slice.jpg

Snowpiercer is bound to be one of the coolest sci-fi movies of the year. We've also barely seen anything of it. Today that changes a bit. The English-language debut of South Korean director Joon-ho Bong (The Host, Memories of Murder) is about a high tech train that was built to circle the planet after life on earth is killed due to a man-made ice age. On board are what remains of the human race, already being torn apart by a class system that's about to spark a revolution. They also happen to be played by one of the most impressive ensemble casts in recent memory: Chris Evans, John Hurt, Tilda Swinton, Jamie Bell, Alison Pill, Ed Harris, Ewen Bremner, Octavia Spencer, Kang-ho Song and Ko Asung.

We have our first look at most of that incredible cast by way of some cool of promotional materials: their character's passport for the Snowpiercer. Most of the text on them is in Korean, but it is the first time we're seeing their character's names and what kind of class of passenger they are. Combine this with the concept art and score sample they've released and Snowpiercer is one of the most anticipated sci-fi film this year no one has heard about. Click HERE to see the 10 promotional passports for Snowpiercer.

19. Sally Hawkins Joins the Cast of Legendary Pictures' GODZILLA

Godzilla-Sally-Hawkins-Dragonlord.jpg

Sally Hawkins (Happy Go Lucky) has nabbed the final lead role in Godzilla, the monster movie that Legendary and Warner Bros kicked off shooting last week in Vancouver. Hawkins will play a scientist alongside Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Elizabeth Olsen, Ken Watanabe, David Strathairn, Brian Cranston and Juliette Binoche. Gareth Edwards is directing Godzilla, which is slated for a 3D release on May 16, 2014. Max Borenstein, Frank Darabont and Dave Callaham wrote the script.

Hawkins recently starred in Constellations, the Nick Payne play that had a sold-out run at the UK’s Royal Court Theatre and then the West End. Her upcoming films include Almost Christmas with Paul Rudd and Paul Giamatti, which will premiere at the Tribeca Film Festival, and Woody Allen’s Blue Jasmine which opens July 26.

20. Australia Offers $22.5 Million for 20,000 LEAGUES UNDER THE SEA

20000-leagues-under-the-sea-slice.jpg

At some point, Australian firstborn children are going to be offered so that the country can get David Fincher‘s 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea. Disney had previously asked for a 30% subsidy location rebate similar to what Fox got for The Wolverine. Today, Deadline is reporting that Australia will make a $22.5 million one-off payment to get the project, which could create up to 2,000 jobs for the country.

Despite this overture, Disney hasn’t given Fincher a greenlight on his blockbuster feature because it still lacks a lead actor. Brad Pitt had been circling the lead role of Captain Nemo, but ultimately passed. Fincher was recently looking at Channing Tatum, but the actor has an incredibly busy schedule. Until Fincher can find an available movie star, 20,000 Leagues is going to have to wait in dry dock. In the meantime, Fincher might pursue Gone Girl or The Girl Who Played with Fire.bbbbb

21. Jason Dohring Confirmed to Return for VERONICA MARS Movie

Jason-Dohring-0403-Dragonlord.jpg

With coffers stuffed by more than double its initial $2 million Kickstarter fundraising goal, the Veronica Mars movie project has finally begun casting characters other than, well, Veronica Mars. Jason Dohring has officially signed on to reprise the role of wealthy bad boy Logan Echolls, becoming the second returning actor (after lead Kristen Bell) to join the project.

There was never much doubt Dohring would return, especially after he showed up in the pitch video for Kickstarter. (Enrico Colantoni and Ryan Hansen also appeared, but neither has been set as of yet.) But it’s still great to hear, not least because Logan is central to the film’s plotline. Hit the jump to keep reading.

Veronica Mars creator Rob Thomas made the announcement to backers via Kickstarter. The film has three confirmed cast members so far — Bell, Dohring, and an unnamed Kickstarter supporter who shelled out $10K to play a waiter who says “Your check, sir” to Veronica and her date.

Click HERE to read creator Rob Thomas update on Veronica Mars. He reveals he has finished the first draft and explains where the additional money will go to.

22. Excerpt from the Live-Event for THE DESOLATION OF SMAUG

Last week, folks who bought a home copy of The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey were given a code where they could participate in a live-event promoting The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug. During the event, Peter Jackson showed some clips, behind-the-scenes footage, concept art, and took some questions.

As minor consolation to those who didn’t see the event, Jackson has posted a six-minute excerpt where he reveals some behind-the-scenes footage, talks about handling a middle chapter, explains the geography of the journey compared to The Lord of the Rings, and takes issue with Stephen Colbert‘s mugs.

The film stars Martin Freeman, Ian McKellen, Luke Evans, Lee Pace, Stephen Fry, Orlando Bloom, Evangeline Lilly, and Richard Armitage. The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug opens in 3D on December 13th.

23. JURASSIC PARK 4 Will Feature New Terrifying Dinosaur

Jurassic-Park-IV-Logo-Dragonlord.jpg

It was recently announced that Safety Not Guaranteed director Colin Trevorrow would be taking on the challenge of bringing the T. Rex and the Velociraptor back to the big screen in Jurassic Park 4. The Jurassic Park movies made stars out of the T-Rex, the spitting Dilophosaurus, and the Velociraptor, which wasn't really a well known dino until after the movie came out. But from the sounds of it a new dinosaur star is going to be born in the fourth film, and apparently it's terrifying.

USA Today recently spoke with paleontologist Jack Horner, who served as the dinosaur adviser on the original films and is working on the new one, as well. In the interview, Horner reveals that there'll be a new dino, but wouldn't say what it would be. He teased, "I can't actually tell you who that will be, but you'll want to keep the lights on after you see this movie."

24. Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje Joins Paul W.S. Anderson’s POMPEII

Adewale-Akinnuoye-Agbaje-rejoint-THOR-THE-DARK-WORLD.jpg

Lost star Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje has joined the cast of Paul W.S. Anderson's period disaster movie Pompeii, says a story at Variety. He joins Emily Browning, Kit Harington, Jared Harris and Kiefer Sutherland in the Summit Entertainment project.

Based on the world's most famous volcanic eruption, Pompeii centers on Milo (Harington), the slave of a shipping tyc00n who dreams of the day he can buy his freedom and marry his master's daughter, Flavia (Browning). What Milo doesn't know is that she's already been promised to a corrupt Roman senator, while he's been sold to another owner in Naples. Just when things can't get any worse, Mt. Vesuvius erupts, prompting Milo to head back to Pompeii to rescue his love and his best friend, a gladiator (Akinnuoye-Agbaje) who's trapped in the city's coliseum.

Anderson and Jeremy Bolt are producing Pompeii through their Impact Pictures along with Robert Kulzer and Martin Moszkowicz of Constantin Film. Lee Batchler and Janet Scott Batchler wrote the script, which was revised by Julian Fellowes. Well, as most of you might have heard, Cinturao was banned a few hours ago. He was warned repeatedly to stop making graphic sexual posts but he refused to do so and finally received the banhammer. He was a regular poster here in Movie News and Notes (well, more like nonsense spammer), so I figured I'd say a few things about Sherdog's No.1 pedobear.

I've known Cint a few years ago. Back then, his schtick was posting cute kittens and food images/gifs. He was pretty harmless and overall fun guy to talk to. But somewhere along the way, I noticed he had a weird fixation with Chloe Moretz and a few underage actresses. To this day, I think it was just his gimmick that spun out of control. He also exhibited some new creepy behavior like his man-crushes on Taylor Kitsch, Matthew McConaughey, Ryan Gosling to name a few.

Aside from having questionable taste in movies, being a spammer and a creepy stalker, I like the guy. He was also entertaining to make fun of.

So in memory of Cinturao, I've asked a few of his victims (Chloe Moretz, Elle Fanning), his man-crushes (Taylor Kitsch, Matthew McConaughey) and his recent love of his life, Olga Kurkulina for their reactions on his banning:

Whaat!? Cinturao got the banhammer? Why isn't this #1 on the Top Stories of the week?

Eagerly waiting for the return of Cint as the Son of Cinturao.
