This, they could even have used film tricks to make whoever played him look bigger, but beyond the size he's supposed to be a menacing rugged guy who's been scrapping his whole life and living as a drifter for a number of years and a lot of his interactions with people play off of that first impression.

Definitely did not match the JR I had envisioned from the books.

disagree completely, Reacher was an enjoyable movie, but could have been named anything else and been the same movie, what makes Reacher in the books is the character, and part of his make up is being huge...it even manifests in the movie at the hotel scene when the police are looking for someone who could kill someone with one punch and she says "you'll know when you see him" really? Tom Cruise all 5'6" looks that powerful? I think someone like Ray Stevenson would have been great, you dont have to get a wrestler for someone to be large enough to pull it off accurately.

ray stevenson isnt that good of an actor... did you see punisher war zone? jesus christ that was horrible

He played that role well. The Punisher is soulless. Hes not really supposed to have emotion. Thomas Jane overacted in the 04 version.

Godzilla-1210-Dragonlord.jpg

Warner Bros. and Legendary Pictures have released the first trailer for director Gareth Edwards’ Godzilla along with a new poster If you want to see the titular kaiju, you’re going to be in for a bit of a disappointment, but you should be encouraged by the style Edwards is bringing to the movie. There are some great-looking shots, especially the opening halo jump and the red smoke clouds following the paratroopers. And when Godzilla is finally "revealed", it’s in a stunning, smokey silhouette. It’s an effective teaser trailer, and fans will have to wait to see more while the special effects team attempts to recreate one of cinema’s most memorable monsters. The film stars Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Elizabeth Olsen, Bryan Cranston, Juliette Binoche, David Strathairn, Ken Watanabe, and Sally Hawkins. Godzilla opens in 3D on May 16, 2014.

Synopsis: An epic rebirth to Toho’s iconic Godzilla, this spectacular adventure pits the world’s most famous monster against malevolent creatures who, bolstered by humanity’s scientific arrogance, threaten our very existence.

even tho Tom Cruise is a classic hollywood midget, i liked him in Jack Reacher, even tho him being a midget destroyed the character, the Midget Reacher was a good movie, hoping for a decent sequel

Really glad they went the Cloverfield route and are not revealing too much with this.

Juan Antonio Bayona to Direct WORLD WAR Z Sequel

Juan-Antonio-Bayona-Directs-World-War-Z-Sequel-Dragonlord.jpg

World War Z was one the summer's surprise hits, grossing $202 million domestically and $540 million worldwide for the studio and Skydance. What was even more impressive was the movie's solid reviews in the face of well-documented problems with the third act that necessitated complicated and costly rewrites and reshoots. Due to the contentious and trouble-laden production process, WWZ helmer Marc Forster wasn’t keen on returning to direct a potential follow-up. Now Paramount has settled on a new director to take the helm of the franchise, attaching The Impossible director Juan Antonio Bayona to oversee the development of World War Z 2.

Heat Vision reports that Bayona was on “a very short list” of directors that Pitt and the studio were looking at to take the helm of the follow-up, and after meeting with Pitt—who will again be producing this sequel—Bayona has landed the gig. Writers are not attached just yet, but Bayona will be overseeing the writing and development of the follow-up. Bayona first burst onto the scene with the well-received 2007 horror film The Orphanage before exploring the effects of the 2004 tsunami in the 2012 drama The Impossible, which netted Naomi Watts a Best Actress Oscar nomination.

A24, Demarest Films Pick Up Kevin Smith's Monster Movie TUSK

BANDEAUKEVSMITHREDSTATE.jpg

A24 has teamed up with Demarest Films for Kevin Smith's latest film, Tusk. The New York-based company plans to release the film, which stars Justin Long, Michael Parks, Genesis Rodriguez and Haley Joel Osment, in the third quarter of 2014. Tusk, written and directed by Smith, is considered a "modern-day monster movie" and is currently in production. In the film, Long plays a journalist who finds the story of a lifetime in Mr. Howe (Parks), a worldwide adventurer with amazing tales and a curious penchant for walruses.

"I'm as happy as the day Miramax bought Clerks back in '94!" Smith said in the announcement. "We're so lucky A24 fell in love with our walrus picture and jumped in the pool with us. I was a big fan of how they released The Bling Ring and Spring Breakers, so I was praying Tusk would take root there."

First Trailer for EDGE OF TOMORROW Starring Tom Cruise

Edge-of-Tomorrow-Blunt-Cruise-1211-Dragonlord.jpg

Warner Bros. has released the first trailer for director Doug Liman’s sci-fi actioner Edge of Tomorrow. The film is essentially a sci-fi version of Groundhog Day, and judging by this first trailer Liman looks to have put together an intense and thrilling spin on a fascinating premise. Though there are obviously plenty of CGI effects involved, the aesthetic has a more grounded and realistic nature to it, which is encouraging. Moreover, it’s great to see a female lead that’s much more than a damsel in distress or simple love interest. The pic also stars Bill Paxton, Laura Pulver, and Jeremy Piven. Edge of Tomorrow opens on June 6, 2014.

Synopsis: The epic action of “Edge of Tomorrow” unfolds in a near future in which an alien race has hit the Earth in an unrelenting assault, unbeatable by any military unit in the world. Lt. Col. Bill Cage (Cruise) is an officer who has never seen a day of combat when he is unceremoniously dropped into what amounts to a suicide mission. Killed within minutes, Cage now finds himself inexplicably thrown into a time loop—forcing him to live out the same brutal combat over and over, fighting and dying again…and again. But with each battle, Cage becomes able to engage the adversaries with increasing skill, alongside Special Forces warrior Rita Vrataski (Blunt). And, as Cage and Rita take the fight to the aliens, each repeated encounter gets them one step closer to defeating the enemy.

^ Looks like they changed a number of things from the book, but the core concepts seem to be intact (and, to be honest, the book's a snappy read but it's no masterpiece). I'm interested to see more.

Edge of Tomorrow's tech look a lot like how Starship Troopers should have been
