Serious Question: Did the Heel Hook and Toe Hold come Catch Wrestling or Jiu Jitsu ?

Ancient thread resurrect, but I didn't see any info on this since this time so I thought I might shed a little light. Almost all of the leglocks present in shooto, the hybrid grassroots amateur wrestling MMA style, gym, school, promotion or whatever you want to call it as it existed or lives on...

Beverage container deposits, yea or nay?

Because here in the US, we have homeless and drug problems and recycling deposits seems to solve one problem by exacerbating others.

Beverage container deposits, yea or nay?

Evidently, there's people in Oregon who are on food stamps that will buy cases of water with their food stamps, then dump the water and return the water bottles for cash, so someone's returning plastic bottles. I think the idea is to get the beverage containers that end up in the trash cans...

    HEMA and Budo

Goes to the point that a (sword) fight really starts when one party decides another needs killing, not with two guys at the ready from dueling positions. Advantage katana, the weapon that HEMA nerds love to rag on for being slow and unwieldy. And one could argue that in open field battle...

Beverage container deposits, yea or nay?

Seems like a good idea but every place I go that has a deposit for bottles and cans has a worse problem with urban littering due to homeless and transients looting trash and recycling receptacles for beverage containers than the problem the beverage container laws were meant to solve in the...

    HEMA and Budo

Yes, yes. And Jesus wasn't born on December 25th, there were more than just 300 Spartans at Thermopylae, Vikings didn't wear horned helmets and Catherine the Great wasn't fucked to death by a horse. Any more historical myths that no one mentioned in this thread that warrant debunking? (Though...

Out of these, which 3 things is most important in life?

Claimed nothing of the sort. Just pointing out that with your answer that lacks any insight or wisdom, you obviously don't have the keys to the Cadillac.

Ironically, there's quite a bit of lame in this post.

Out of these, which 3 things is most important in life?

Case, point, argument, observation, whatever you like to call it, I don't think there's very much truth to it at all. Decades of research indicates that mental health, which is what all these other factors are indicators of, is just as, if not more important to longevity and satisfactory life...

You should make that argument to the clinically depressed or those with Alzheimers.

I was assuming time in the broader sense, such as the saying "Time heals all wounds," or those that pertain to time/age giving one better perspective on matters.

Social Are we the only beings who cannot live without clothes and shoes ?

Because humans have evolved the ability to adapt to an environment without needing to physically evolve to suit it. It would have been covered on Joe Rogan by guests like William Von Hippel if someone were to ask the question. Joe's shown that he's familiar with tribes that run around naked...

Out of these, which 3 things is most important in life?

Half the choices are choices, the other half aren't. No one chooses to have more time, except for the suicidal person who doesn't step off the bridge.

Why specify physical health? Isn't mental health just as, if not more important?

Don't let some insipid motivational quips fool you. Some failures, you can't recover from. Time is not necessarily on your side. Time is also working against you. You are running out of it. More money can make you happier if you don't have enough of it. People who go around saying...

    What is your favorite Transformer?

Dinobot wasn't a Transformer, you fool. Dinobots were a class of Autobots that rode the short bus, remember? My favorite toy was Jetfire.

Now I understand why celebrities and athletes who make millions spiral out of control

There are marketplaces that sell specialty Lego parts - the ones that are shaped in specific ways - for $10/20/50/100+. People use them to build the official sets or community created builds. I don't even pretend to know the full Lego scene but I know that its huge.

You Know How To Tell You've Officially Become An Old Man?

Senility isn't doing you any favors, old man, because you missed the point(s) twice over. Old men have been bitching about the young being spoiled since Socrates. Try re-reading the original point about the golden age of humanity being past us again, with a broader historical perspective...
