Another bad look for the UFC: Josh Quinlan

IMHO they would be better of just checking for stuff that massively messes up the athletes' health and kills people like Tren/Anadrol/Superdrol and other super toxic stuff, HGH etc; and then just not even check for the rest of it, since athletes will find ways to dodge tests anyway - stuff like...

Media Jessica-Rose Clark says Julija Stoliarenko held armbar after tap

That's the way submission grapplers should fight when doing MMA - go for the break - much less chance of escape. This ain't a friendly roll in the gym, people trying to bash each others brains

How bad is grappling on the body?

LOL I recognize that style, one of the younger heavyweight blackbelt instructors I used to train with used that style of training. It was a NIGHTMARE - there was no chance to rest because there was continuous activity - I always had to sit out and gasp for air after rolling with him, but it...

My interest is severely dwindling, what gives?

Happened to me too, couple times actually. Was a big fan at the very beginning watching the first few UFCs, kind of lost interest around the Tito era, got back into it with Chuck Liddell's rise, started to lose interest again a few years ago and now just watch a few events per year It's no big...

How bad is grappling on the body?

My worst injuries in BJJ were from the takedown/Judo portion, surprisingly enough...although that may be because I wasn't nearly as skilled with dealing with it compared to the ground game. But the injuries piled up eventually and I haven't gone back to training again - right achilles and left...

I know for a fact that if Khabib fought for the title as soon as he entered the UFC he would’ve...

His striking wasn't there yet so it's a toss-up. The fact it's even a toss-up shows how amazing his grappling is, but he would have gotten chewed up on the feet with his level of striking, and his grappling would have been far less effective without the threat of his striking. I think his...

Getting out of the buggy choke

I wonder if you can hook the leg ALA triangle slam prevention, with a buggy choke?

I've never seen anything like the Paddy situation in my life

He's a (currently at least) a mid-level fighter, who has an exciting style and is a fan favorite. There have been a bunch of them over the years.

News Zhang Weili is now sponsored by Pepsi

Star power is what drives the sponsorships and fighter pay - winning can help with that but particularly in this day and age it isn't the only thing (or even the main thing) that makes a fighter famous and have fans

Islam's Decision to TKO instead of Sub

Is a fighter allowed to bet on themselves? If Islam was super confident in himself he could probably bet that he would win in round 1 by TKO or something. I actually wonder if Conor was doing that when he was in his prime...probably not the wisest thing for a fighter to do though even if...

Brock Lesnar: "I was humbled by Frank [Mir]"

Yep, I enjoy all the big "hype" fighters' runs while they last - Brock, Conor, Ronda, etc - it makes the sport more interesting while they are fighting and on top. I know it annoys the hardcore fanbase that the big talkers get so much attention and so many rabid fans, but I think it's all good fun.

Media Overeem getting his traps back

Yeah he looks like a solid classic physique competitor

Could D1 Francis Have Outwrestled Brock?

It's very possible. I think people tend to write Lesnar off because of downturn he had in the later part of his career - but gut issues are no joke and I think he was not in the condition that he was in Mir#2 or even Couture. Gut issues are a big problem for certain athletes who...

Could D1 Francis Have Outwrestled Brock?

Yep. Would look very much like Overeem/Lesnar did, probably even more violent, assuming Brock was in that same kind of condition. If the Lesnar that beat Mir#2 showed up, it would be a good fight

Stipe Miocic have made 6M totally in UFC as an ex-champ

A single big fight might generate more income for a fighter than the rest of their career combined. It's no wonder some fighters choose to sit out when that one big shot is on the horizon.

Which MMA fighter would fair the best against a pack of dogs

Good call. I picture that scene from the Disney movie Beauty and the Beast where the beast is fighting off the wolves. Heck his name was even the Beast

Which MMA fighter would fair the best against a pack of dogs

You are gonna get messed up like that, groups of dogs are lethal hunters that work extremely well as a team and whoever fights is gonna end up missing testicles, fingers and chunks of flesh around their anus I wouldn't favor any fighter against a pack of dogs, but Ngannou would probably fare...

Jon Jones' UFC career officially over?

Unless Jon spends his money on inhalable powders at such an extreme rate that he runs his bank account dry and is no longer able to purchase it, I don't see him coming back to fight

Media Jake Paul have a proposal to Dana White, (Updated OP, Dana White replies)

I see both sides. On one hand, the UFC pays its fighters the absolute minimum that it can, and for sure the fighters deserve more than the 8% of the revenue or whatever it is that they get. On the other, this is the way the unrestricted free market works absent unions and significant...

People on this forum seems to underestimate Ciryl way too much...

Cain Valasquez was supposed to be the next Fedor, but he got sidelined by knee injuries and his chin wasn't strong enough. We never know how good someone really is unless they sit on the very top of the heap for awhile.
