In both UFC matches I noticed that Poatan doesnt back away and reset to try to recover when eating huge shots. In the previous one when Izzy almost koed him in the 1st round he took one shot, stayed and took another. Last night the same thing happened, the shot that put him away maybe could have...
I miss that too but honestly I think it's on part of the fans to blame. If I were a fighter I wouldn't give a shit to what fickle spoiled fans want either, they want to make demands but will shit on you if you take risks and eventially lose... the "your only as good as your last fight" mentality.
Kind of true but would you give Adesanya's size/reach advantage away to his previous oponnents ? That's not how things work... guys are the way they are and there's no equal playing field.
in the context of their back and forth altercations the only problem I have with the quotes you showed is that the references to Africa/Kiwi sound a bit xenophobic to me. The quotes on the bottom are just fight selling to me, the same as I interpreted Izzy's "disrespectful" calling out of Costa
I'm gonna check that out. Also they had that prior issue of when Costa supposedly didn't know who Izzy was, and during the build up Costa mentioned how he disliked Izzy for being disrespectful or something.
As far as I know the build up to the fight was fair play (to guys that are about to fight on a cage for the belt talking thrash and making fun of each other). How come Izzy's put himself as some kind of victim here ?
For sure. Only deluded fans crap on fighters they used to support after a loss. They think their idols should be real life Chuck Norris and can't ever lose.
Often times when there's a potentially unfavorable matchup for a striker on the stand up but he has on paper superior grappling* there's always talk about how he might use that advantage but usually they simply don't go for it.
How do you interpret that ? Difficulty changing your fighting...
You forgot about the threat of the takedown. It was the other way around with Khabib. And Conor didnt stood there waiting to counter. Totally different comparison as I see it.
