Any ideas where UFC 249 will be held ?

What I am wondering is which athletic commission would be willing to sanction this shitshow

I think it would have to be on some tribal lands or some country that doesn't give a crap about Covid and just wants the influx of money and prestige that a UFC event might bring in.

I can't see any state right now allowing the UFC to host an event. IF something would happen and an event like this would further the spread of covid that governor would get crushed. But then again Florida, which has been hit hard, just allowed Wrestlemania so who knows.

Apparently rasslemania was prerecorded and "held" before the lockdown went into effect.

The event was originally scheduled to take place solely on April 5, 2020, at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Florida and was to air live. In mid-March 2020, all WWE programming was relocated to the WWE Performance Center training facility in Orlando due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, with no audience and only essential staff present. WWE subsequently announced that WrestleMania would also be presented from the facility, and air across two nights. WrestleMania's matches were filmed at the Performance Center on March 25 and 26, while two matches were filmed in atypical styles outside of a traditional arena setting.

Its the West Coast so my guess is on some reservation like Morongo
Heres why I believe it will be a reservation.

1. Most reservations are on federal land and not subject to a state issued "stay at home" directive.
2. They have the facilities to host a sporting event because most of the closed casinos also have attached hotels and restaurants as well as several venues to host concerts or boxing events.
3. Tribes on the West Coast are relatively small so they are most likely not too concerned about covid overrunning their smaller numbers.
4. They usually have a hospital and also have functioning police and fire departments that can secure a venue from uninvited people
5. Many have their own small landing strips for planes and helicopters.
6. They would probably look at this as an opportunity to promote their casino
7. They can close access to non tribal members(like the media) so they can turn away people at their borders.
I was debating Indian lands the other day as well, and some sherdogger explained to me that state AC's still have to be there to make it a 'sanctioned' event. And regardless of semantics, he was suggesting that any event on Indian Reservation would absolutely necessitate some level of State AC involvement. When I asked how UFC got around this in foreign countries without Athletic Commissions he said that they actually hired NSAC people to be there.

I have no idea whether any of this is true or not, do you have any insight?

I'll try to find those posts.

PS I love me some Delta 88 muscle car.

@submerged88 I'm now giving credit where credit is due https://forums.sherdog.com/threads/...ight-can-happen.4098515/page-2#post-159743668

It will take place right here on Sherdog forums. No physical requirements, no chance of virus transmission.

No need to keep searching. You had UFC 249 in your heart all along. In fact we are all UFC 249.

I guess the question becomes whether or not the fight is officially sanctionded by the state. A reservation can host the fights the ufc wants but the ufc then has to figure out how they want the outcomes of those fights to be recorded in the books. Some tribes have their own athletic commissions and ive heard there are other 3rd party bodies that can be hired in some cases. Maybe ufc 249 will be an counted as an official underground event

"Officially unofficial", like their rankings ;) I like it.
