Arrests in 2015-2017 per EU member state and affilation and trends from 2011-2017 (source Europol)

In France we have between 5% and 10% of the population who's "originally" from north africa. Most of them borned in France, so they're not immigrants.
99% of them are coming from high criminality zones, ghettos to simplify.
The thing who's disturbing and most of "anti Islam" muricans don't understand/know it, is that if you study the history of Europeans jihadist they are all ex thugs, who did drugs dealing, car jacking, robbery etc ...
On an other hand, if you look at salafists, who are the real Muslim zealots/integrist very few of them are involved in terror attacks or "normal" crimes.
The funny part is, the ex thugs jihadist from France are/were more embrassing an American thug/ghetto/hip hop/2pac culture than a Muslim one.
You're welcome.

je ne comprends pas.

My English is not perfect mais c'est facile de comprendre non ?

There's a serious problem with upward mobility there. It's very hard to get into college and get a degree and get a legal or medical license. They were supposed to go there to find work, but a lot of the jobs dried up and so they collect social benefits and languish in their suburban ghettos. It's a sad cycle.

Well if you see the background of french jjihadist, they are people who listened to hip hop, did weed, had the thuggish attitude maximum 1 year before becoming jjihadist. And this hip hop culture is from Murica, I remember in the 90's we had lot of people with Malcolm X caps, it was cool and ghetto (lol).
They were not religious educated people and even not Islamic integrists.
More a "thug life" style of living than an Islamic Mormon one, to simplify.

Yeah they were all like this, and then, ISIS appeared and they turned in something else in less than 1 year, 6 month even for some of them.

That is a common talking point, that social conditions are a major driver for terrorism and radicalization but:

This report examines all jihadist-motivated terrorist attacks carried out in Europe and North America since the declaration of the Caliphate by the Islamic State group in June 2014. By analyzing the 51 attacks and their perpetrators, this study constitutes the first comprehensive account of attacks carried out during the past three years.

Key findings:

* ISIS is very much behind the scenes, only 26% of the cases studied had no apparent link to the group
* Debunks the theory that social conditions are the major driver for terrorism and radicalization
* Radicalization leading to terrorism is growing in an alarming rate
* Southern Europe is performing worse than northern Europe on integrating Muslims, despite that, they suffer lower number of attacks.
* Radical hubs are the major driver, not social conditions.
* A hub can be a Salafi group, mosque, charismatic personality, tight-nit group of friends.
* More women are becoming an integral part of the radicalization

As for French Muslims:

50% of the Muslims between the ages of 15-25 are radical and hostile to French society.

The portrait of Muslims in France is not limited to these common features. They are in fact best characterised by the diversity and differences of opinion among them. A methodical analysis of the survey results identifies three groups:

  • The silent majority,a large group making up 46% of respondents. Their belief system allows them to adapt to French society, which in turn evolves thanks to specific aspects of their religion;
  • The conservatives. They make up 25% of the sample and are at the heart of the political and ideological struggle that our report proposals aim to help tackle and overcome;
  • The authoritarians make up the last group, 28% of the total sample. They are mostly young, low-skilled and facing high unemployment; they live in the working-class suburbs of large cities. This group is no longer defined by conservatism, but by its appropriation of Islam as a mode of rebellion against the rest of French society.
However, an ever-increasing number of young Muslims, although they remain in the minority, identify above all with a disaffected form of religious affiliation (almost 50% of 15-25 year-olds)

Actually the parents took the shitty jobs, the sons did not.
Social ladder doesn't work anymore ...
And the ghetto thing is a big part of the process yeah.

interesting. sounds like crappy people moving from one extreme ideology to the next as they're liable to do.

Yep most of the jihadist are "authoritarians".
Ex thugs who used Islam, when Isis became a thing as a part of an overall social/ethnic/add a word here rebellion.

Yep, exactly that.
The Abdelsalam brothers, who were part of the Paris attack (belgians not french) were owners of a bar (crazy I know) and hashish dealers ...
I can imagine that ISIS propaganda for them sounds like, you have a shitty life, you'll become heroes here.

France is different cause they "inherited" the southern Ottoman Empire after World War I . France have a much longer history with Islamic terrorism cause of their involvement in administrating Algeria etc.

Same way UK had a problem with Irish Terrorism cause of our involvement with the administration of Ireland. We also had the same problem with Jewish Terrorism in the early 20th century cause of the way we Administrated British Mandate Palestine at the time.

Um, no sweety.

Greeks aren’t right wing.

Btw, these stats should surprise no one.
