Bad experiences meeting UFC fighters

Met DeLaHoya, Floyd, and Sugar Ray Leonard at Treasure Island casino. I was there to cheer on Matt Vanda from our gym. DeLaHoya and Sugar Ray were scouting him, and someone from Floyd's camp was interested in flying him out for a workout, and I guess since it was at a casino, Floyd wanted to come with.

Floyd's bodyguards owned the place, no better way to describe it. They were openly smoking weed in the casino lobby and repeatedly told casino security to "go find someone else to fuck with". They were courteous to the customers though, and the pit boss/manager was very respectful towards them. No one could get within about 10 feet of Floyd. He was all smiles and generally seemed like a nice guy. Chilled for a few minutes with his security at the after party in the hallway of the hotel and smoked a blunt. At this point in time, I will admit that security clowned me for being a dumb ass kid. I told them I thought Floyd looked much younger in person. I thought Jr and Sr were the same person.

DeLaHoya was uninterested in meeting anyone past a brief handshake, and didn't repeat anyone's name. Only there for business, and I think he was paranoid being close to the skinheads that followed Vanda everywhere. They were both awkward when talking to each other. I don't think he was expecting the kinda crowd he was in and Vanda was surprised to see him. He kept giving sideways glances and seemed irritated that people kept interrupting him.

Sugar Ray was an all-around good dude. He had been by the gym to watch him work out that week, and had been in contact with his coach ahead of time. They watched some film, chatted it out, and Vanda spoke highly of him. He took the time to introduce himself and give some pointers to a few of us gym rats. He autographed some gloves but didn't want any pictures. Really cool guy, and I'm really proud that I was able to contain my inner fan boy.

Met Rampage. He came to Jeff Mullen’s spot in Memphis. There were some younger folks in their from Mullen’s judo class, teenage type. Rampage got upset when a couple of them snapped some cell phone pictures. It took me by surprise when he barked at them and then at Mullen for allowing it. To be honest I didn’t even introduce myself after that and I left. So I guess I didn’t meet him.

Met and grappled with Herb at Mullen’s spot. Nice guy. Met Thiago Alves on Beale street. He literally looks like a pit bull in the face.

When the UFC came to my country, like two months before the event they set up a training session with two fighters for the local gyms.

Those fighters were Vicente Luque and Big Nog. Luque was an all around awesome guy, taking the time to talk to everyone while Big Nog was an ass to everyone. It seemed that he did not wanted to be there…when it was time for photos and stuff he did that but with a scowl and ended up brushing/yelling to some of the guys because he wanted to leave ASAP

It was cool to be in the same room as him…but never expected for him to be like that to be honest.

smh Rampage you dick

I saw John Jones at a grocery store in Los Angeles yesterday. I told him how cool it was to meet him in person, but I didn’t want to be a douche and bother him and ask him for photos or anything.

He said, “Oh, like you’re doing now?” I was taken aback, and all I could say was “Huh?” but he kept cutting me off and going “huh? huh? huh?” and closing his hand shut in front of my face. I walked away and continued with my shopping, and I heard him chuckle as I walked off. When I came to pay for my stuff up front I saw him trying to walk out the doors with like fifteen Milky Ways in his hands without paying.

The girl at the counter was very nice about it and professional, and was like “Sir, you need to pay for those first.” At first he kept pretending to be tired and not hear her, but eventually turned back around and brought them to the counter.

When she took one of the bars and started scanning it multiple times, he stopped her and told her to scan them each individually “to prevent any electrical infetterence,” and then turned around and winked at me. I don’t even think that’s a word. After she scanned each bar and put them in a bag and started to say the price, he kept interrupting her by yawning really loudly.

haha what a fucking shitbag of a persoanality jon has if this real

Met Royce Gracie and Rumble Johnson at a Strike Force event in San Jose...both guys were super nice

The only UFC fighter I met was some black dude from the early UFC’s he was dating my girlfriend’s sister at the time. He told me that he will be on next card and he got choked out by I forgot who but what I was angry because my girlfriend’s sister was 10 times hotter than mine and he looked so damn ugly. I realized later that she was crazy because she tried to kill herself twice and the sad part she is/was a nurse practitioner and number 1 in her class. So maybe I was lucky I didn’t date her, but damn she was so hottttttttttttttt!
I saw her years later and asked her out figuring she went out with that ugly dude why not me, she told me she would never date a guy who slept with her sister! True story folks!
You know why she dated the fighter, my friend. Its a famous British Broadcasting channel.

Talked with Danny Castillo and few young TAM fighters(one young prospect in bellator) and did shots with them( I bought). Coolest cat. Good times.

That criminally insane horse killer Alistair Overeem threw poor old Macalpinerules' cake in the trash can.

I live in San Jose. Wanted to meet khabib and Cormier near aka but never did. That being said, my friend's wrestling coach does train with khabib/cormier in aka

Went on a date with a guy who said he knew Rosi Sexton because they were both osteopaths and he said she was very creepy. He said 'she used do sit over here [gestures] and we would all go sit over there [points to the other side of the room]>

Only Matt Hughes that I recall. It was in Milwaukee at a bar & Faber was there. Matt was more interested in his salad than the fans. Faber was cool AF.

I've also met DC, Cain, Poirier, Jon, Ronda, Mighty Mouse, Little Evil, Cruickshank, Warren, Le, Cowboy, Pennington, Tiny Tornado, Mir, Credeur, the Punk, Ellenberger, Matt Brown (airport), CB (airport), Mike Brown, Werdum, Uriah, Gastelum, Pettis & Perez. That's what I recall but I'm sure there are others.

The cooler than a motherfucker list:

  • DC: Chatted us up & was happy we were attending his next fight.
  • Warren: Let me hold his belt & took some pics.
  • Poirier: Met his family on 3 separate occasions. Very nice & humble dude.
  • Little Evil: Met outside an event & talk with him for around 15 minutes. Really nice guy.
  • Cruickshank: Sat one row behind him in Milwaukee & ended up at the after fights pizza joint he was at. By this time we joked about who was following who. Same place I ran into Poirier & his entourage.
  • The Punk: Met him at a UFC day before event. He came to our table & sat with us to talk multiple times.
  • Pettis: Met in the parking lot of a titty club in Madison.

Jokes aside who really is that big dude?

search UberTS on sherdog. some dude who came on here one time to tell us he met some fighters and everyone was blown away by his proportion to I think Frank Mir

I met Charlie Zelenoff once in a locker room. He challenged me to a fight while I was changing my undies. Sumbitch knocked my ass out and stept over my semi dead body and kept yelling 251-0 251-0...best moment of my life.
