You want to reach some political objective with war.
By that logic Korea wasn't that bad. The US got overstretched but also managed to build a strong, western aligned nation in South Korea. Militarily it was a draw between the US and China but South Korea has been a much greater success than North Korea.
The US also won in 91 against Iraq and kept Saudi Arabia and Kuwait in their sphere of influence. And of course, the US won the cold war.
The US lost in Vietnam and Afghanistan, although some limited goals were achieved in Afghanistan. The US spent a decade, 50 thousand soldiers and billions trying to prop up South Vietnam and it was useless and a communist government took over.

Korea -- that was a humiliating war for the Americans. We sucked at winter warfare like the Germans and the French. The war has not ended, we are only at a cease fire.

China always has and always will suck at warfare. All they have is numbers; I spoke to a Korean War veteran, and he said the Chinese used to send the first ranks of their human wave attacks in armed only with bayonets. The rifles didn't even have rounds. Their sole purpose was to soak up the fire of the Allied forces.

Winning is a habit. So is losing. Any time the Chinese step out of their lane and fight an enemy even close to their own strength, they end up getting their asses handed to them. Conquering Tibet or mowing down unarmed protestors is about the PLA's limit.

I really hope the Chinese are dumb enough to attack Taiwan. The West won't have to do anything except drink beer and laugh as the PLA gets slaughtered and humiliated 24/7 on live TV. They'll get prison-raped even worse than the Russians in Ukraine.

Because they didn't have the technical difference in that area as in Crimea for a full blown annexation. BEIJING (Reuters) - Chinese protesters gave a raucous welcome for House of Representatives Speaker Nancy Pelosi on Wednesday, painting red slogans and crying out for the lawmaker to live up to her reputation as a foe of human rights abuses.

Demonstrations over everything from pollution to crime are common in China, but rare in front of major government offices in tightly controlled Beijing. Some of the protesters spray-painted red slogans on the main gate of the State Council Information Office reading “Pelosi, we love you” and “Warmly welcome Pelosi, pay attention to human rights”.

“We hope that the U.S. speaker Pelosi will speak out for the human rights of Chinese people, that she won’t be afraid to defend us,” said protester Chen Fengqiang, 51, from the southern Guangdong province.
