Wand fought under a variety of different rules against a variety of different opponents. Jake has primarily fought old mma guys way past their prime and below his weight class. Jake has more to prove then Wand in this hypothetical.

Wand competed in MMA and submission grappling. Never boxing, which is what this hypothetical is about. Which is an entirely striking based combat sport. Which makes what I said completely valid, still.

Anderson looked pretty good tbh

A year prior he beat up the ghost of Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. For his age, it was a decent performance. There was some glimpses of the Silva of old.

I think it would be tough even for a prime Silva, pure boxing is just a different game.

My point was that he competed under enough different rule sets that he showed the ability to acclimate his style, so it’s not like a rule change would have him lost.

At the time we're talking about competing in “mma” wasn’t a blanket thing. He competed with gloves, without gloves, with knees on the ground, with elbows on the ground, etc.

So yeah, I agree that we’ve never seen Wand purely box, but we’ve also never seen Paul box an mma guy his age and size. And I’m more inclined to go with the guy who’s shown he can compete at the highest level of combat sports rather than the guy who’s made his career beating washed up grapplers or 47 year old Anderson.

Henderson had two go to moves that he would spam over and over again. Jake would maul him. I don't like Jake but he is young and he can fight. He trains boxing full time vs MMA guys who aren't specialists.
