Can you explain to an old guy what capping means? People use it in a ton of different ways...

To put it clearly, cap = lie. It's African-American Vernacular English. The origins come from 20th century black slang. You'll hear a lot of rappers use it in their songs, but the it's so commonly said now even some out of touch non-blacks use it and it gets thrown into shit like commercials to make products look trendy or whatever. That's the best way I can put it, with me being a black guy and all.
