They shouldn't be in any public schools whatsoever. Kids are at school to learn about math, science, history etc. They're not there to learn how to perform oral sex and read about how getting molested by your uncle can be scary but pleasurable.

It can be confusing to a child if being molested can cause some physical sensations they enjoy. Teaching them it’s still assault and still can be traumatic for them in the big picture lets them know they should still report it, thus helping stop it. How is this simple concept over your head?

To lock up the people molesting children, you need to get the children to report the assaults and testify.

Considering these assaults are, a majority of the time, committed by family members or family friends, or other folks close to them…this is very complicated and difficult. They are often manipulated into thinking they aren’t being molested or that it’s consensual by their attacker. They are often confused about what has been done to them.

Any social worker child advocacy group that actually deals with kids who have been victims of sexual assault will say more sex ed is needed. Not less. You seem more concerned with not offending conservative sensibilities than preventing assaults.

The cases are already very difficult to prosecute, making the sentences life sentences will make them even harder.

The case was already made, the book I was given in the late 80's to teach me about sex had worse pictures than those pages described. Find any evidence that book was in an elementary school and you might have a single instance you can gripe about.

Other kids might be more ashamed of themselves and less likely to talk because they enjoyed it and feel conflicted about it.

I want a kid to know that the physical sensory experiences they go through when being molested is not the part that defines whether it’s a crime and wrong.
