Social Does anyone here not own a smartphone?

I own one, but I didn't use it for like 5 months (used a £14 dumbphone). Nice experience...most of my time on a smartphone is unnecessary and inefficient. Might do it again sometime, especially if I buy a dumbphone with whatsapp on.

I had a 60yo colleague in 2020 who didn't have a smartphone.

@lsa doesn't have one, he finds them too challenging. He still uses a rotary phone.

I have one but also have a basic Nokia that I sometimes change the SIM card over to on the weekend when I want to be a bit less connected

If you have an android phone and put Tik tok on it you have a spy phone, not a smart phone.
Might as well vote for that felon Trump while you are at it.
You have a spy phone regardless. Most apps ask for far more permissions than they need and most of them are tracking you. You turn on Location and they know where you are at all times.

Don't know for all, but before using some, initial requirement can be accepting terms to include giving ALL access to, and use of, your personal data. Time, GPS location, and every phone number in/out is logged.

I don’t own any phone ( had a cell once fir 2 weeks about a decade ago ) if that counts ? But never actually owned a phone and that was a phone someone gave me before I threw it out on a sidewalk and smashed it ….me and phones just don’t work Till This Day .

My friend is a doctor and refuses to own a smartphone. Uses a flip phone.

I was giving people the benefit of the doubt sir lol
That was your first mistake.

Actually, there was only one mistake and it was that one. It’s still your first mistake in that context. But also your last. So the need for the word “first” is negated.

Who the fuck watches porn on a tiny screen? Not to mention your useing up a free hand holding the phone. Im using a PC with a 22 inch screen at the very least.

Good to know.

I wish I could say I have only made one mistake, so I'll take this one with a smile sir lol.

Actually i own a 3G phone that i have in my backpack which i only use if the car breaks down, so i can call for assistance. So it is rarely ever turned on, and it is ina Faraday case. The plan costs $70 per year.
3G will no longer be supported here after the end of June this year.

Or does anyone know somebody who doesn't own one? Probably has to be 70 or older I would think.

I'm sure there is, I probably wouldn't now if I didn't need one for work. I have to admit that the instant access it gives you to so much is awful nice. I never wanted to be one of those irritating people who are walking around staring at their phone, sometimes I have to be now because I deliver for work. It's not good. But really, i was fine with just my prepaid phone. I don't use it much for socializing and I don't really like being contacted, even by my friends because there is always some want attached to their text/call.
