Godaddy, amongst many other providers, is selling new .com names for 0.99 for the first year. You can sign up for longer terms for $10.99/year after the first year.

How much is renewal of a .com if I only sign up for the first year?

Some suggest transferring the domain over to provider after the first year.

Was wondering what the cheapest option to register a domain would be? It's not for a commercial heavy traffic site, just a personal one.

We use GoDaddy at work with those rates. I have Comcast business and pay like $2 per extra domain per month.

I am already in with Comcast, so I just deal with it. I have 2 domains, all for personal stuff and some for fun.

I went with Hover. A bit pricier, but I was sick of Godaddy. I think I got in on a lower price point with a "leave GoDaddy" promotion years ago.

Every domain has a different price, but you'll always get a slight discount going with a longer term (like 2, or 3 years vs 1).

As soon as you start looking for the domain, it'll get a bit more expensive if you don't get it right then, but it will tell you about the renewal cost.
