I had otoplasty on my ears back in 2016, meaning they now have permanent stitches in them. I started training a few months ago, I have tried rolling without head gear and when they get pulled on, the scar tissue/stitches have torn and they bleed everywhere. So basically I have to wear headgear whenever I roll, or drill anything that might cause my ears to be pulled on.
I want to compete but I know the Ibjjf doesn’t allow headgear and most other organizations don’t as well to my understanding. So my question is, does anyone know of any alternatives to headgear that will be ok for competition? A special tape that will hold my ears back, some type of glue to hold them back etc..?
I know it seems a bit ridiculous but Unfortunately I don’t have the option to not take some type protective measure with them. I’ve asked a few of the guys I trained with and they weren’t sure, and have also tried doing my own research without any luck. Any help is appreciated!
