It could have been stopped later, but it didn't need to be. The moment Costa turtled the fight was over. Costa got dropped, grounded, and then turned to his back. Also, we have to take into consideration of the condition of Costa's leg.

shit was chewed the fuck up, hell, his other leg had marks on it too. I doubt Costa's punches would have had any sting to them anyway. Regardless, Costa was in a bad way.

In the heat of the moment it looked a tad fast, but in reality was not at all.

Best case scenario if it wasn't stopped, was Costa holding on to the end the round. The round would be a 10-8, Costa would be absolutely busted up waaaay worse than he was, and he'd be half conscious as he made his way to the stool. Absolutely would have been a KO in devastating fashion within seconds of the 3rd round starting.

Ref did the the right thing.
