Elon Musk Agrees to $44b Deal for Twitter

Apparently Lockheed Martin and Eli Lily both lost billions when their stock went down after tweets from accounts impersonating these companies.

--
Lockheed Martin Corp. was among the latest corporate brands to take a massive stock hit following misinformation and fake accounts on Twitter after the latter's new verification system — which allows anyone to buy a blue check mark for $8 a month — went into effect.

The Bethesda defense contractor saw its company shares drop 5.5% by close of business Friday, cutting short a steady rise in stock price for the last month. Friday's slock slide followed a tweet sent Thursday night from a fake account, @LockheedMartini, verified through the monthly $7.99 blue check offering and bearing a similar logo, that the company would halt weapon sales to countries like Saudi Arabia and Israel, pending further investigation into their human rights records. That Twitter account has since been suspended.

Oh yea cancer outraged culture always last long term …

LOL @ thinking that "activists" have led to advertisers pulling out and not every decision that Elon has made since he took over the company.

Advertisers are not going to pay to advertise on a social media platform that runs like the wild west.

The YouTube Adpocalypse was five years ago, and YouTube only gets stricter about monetization as time goes on in spite of all of the complaints from content creators.

All these people getting fired are probably getting good payouts for wrongful dismissal. I’m sure they can find other jobs.

They're getting paid and keeping their benefits for 60+ days, so there is no grounds for them to complain.

If you’re in a RTW state unless you have a contract or can prove discrimination you can be fired for anything reason without recourse.
