A trial date is set for 4 March 2024.

Romanian Ion Ciucur, 28, who works in a hotel in Gretna Green, Scotland, has admitted conspiracy to cause grievous bodily harm by taking part in a castration by clamping and one other modification.

He is said to be ‘part of Gustavson’s inner circle’.

German Stefan Scharf, 61, is charged with conspiracy to cause grievous bodily harm.

He is accused of taking part in a single procedure by removing a testicle in an apartment in Camden, London, in July 2019.

He will enter a plea on 12 January.

Former nurse Nathaniel Arnold, 46, Jacob Crimi-Appleby, 23, and Damien Byrnes, 36, removed body parts from Gustavson and are due to be sentenced on 12 January.

Arnold, Crimi-Appleby and Brynes admitted causing grievous bodily harm with intent.

Crimi-Appleby froze Gustavson’s leg causing it to require amputation, Brynes removed his penis while Arnold was involved in the partial removal of his nipple.

Arnold also admitted stealing Lidocaine while working as nurse at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital between January 2016 and January 2022, and possession of extreme pornographic images.

Gustavson’s alleged ‘right-hand man’ surgeon Peter Wates, 66, has admitted conspiracy to commit grievous bodily harm.

He was said to have a major role as surgeon in a large number of procedures.

Japanese artist Mao Sugiyama became a famous 'nullo' in 2012 after having his genitals removed, freezing them and then cooking and serving them at a banquet.

Carruthers’ partner Ashley Williams, 31, has admitted causing grievous bodily harm with intent to Atkin at his home in Newport, south Wales, on 7 November 2017.

Gustavson, Scharf and Ciucur are remanded in custody while the others are on conditional bail, including curfew and residence.

Crimi-Appleby, of Epsom, Surrey, Arnold, of South Kensington, and Byrnes, of Tottenham, admitted causing GBH with intent.

Scharf, of no fixed address, is charged with conspiracy to cause GBH with intent.

There are an estimated 10,000 to 15,000 voluntary 'Nullos' worldwide, though the true number is unknown.

Astonishingly, two thirds never tell anyone they have no genitalia, including their families, a 2014 academic study found.

Many of the 'cutters' - slang for those who carry out the procedure - are from a medical background. Those who have had their genitals removed also claim that vets are known to do it.

Crimi-Appleby, from Epsom, Surrey, has admitted freezing Gustavson's left leg so that it had to be amputated in February 2019.

They first started communicating when Crimi-Appleby was 17, but he told Gustavson he was 18.

He said he was interested in castration and Gustavson told Crimi-Appleby that he was a 'great age', and encouraged him to have the procedure.

They began a sexual relationship in early 2019, with Gustavson boasting about other modifications and keeping the testicles of other men in a jar, which Crimi-Appleby thought was 'awesome'.

The pair began discussing amputation in January 2019 and Crimi-Appleby said he could not wait to see Gustavson 'without a leg' and that he would look 'amazing'.

A video for the eunuch maker website shows Gustavson sitting on a bed with his left leg in a bucket saying "ooh this is cold" as Crimi-Appleby adds dry ice.

Gustavson was treated at the Royal Free Hospital following the procedure, which lasted at least eight hours and eventually resulted in his left leg being amputated below the knee.

He was discharged around two months after the amputation and received £18,500 in benefits between July 2019 and October 2021 after making a successful claim for Personal Independent Payment - to help people with extra costs of living with a health condition or disability.

Byrnes, who was initially hired by Gustavson as an escort, 'readily agreed' to perform a modification, knowing it would be filmed and uploaded to the website to generate revenue, the court was told.

The court heard that Gustavson advertised for someone to assist him in becoming a eunuch on a gay dating app before offering Byrnes, an escort, £500 for carrying out the procedure.

Two days before the procedure Gustavson told Byrnes that he was cutting another person and that he could be a 'sexy, kinky helper'. Gustavson had previously boasted that he had 'done over 26 guys in total, 18 totally done', which was a reference to the removal of both penis and testicles, the prosecutor said.

His face was clearly shown in the video of him removing Gustavson's penis using a kitchen knife in what was described as 'a life-threatening procedure performed in a non-medical environment'.

He is heard to say: "Well that's one off the bucket list. I never expected that one," and asks Gustavson: "Would you eat humans?"

Gustavson called an ambulance following the procedure and was taken to hospital for treatment.

The court heard Byrnes, from Tottenham, north London, was initially offered £500 and his motivation was 'financial rather than sexual'... Financial records showed Gustavson paid Byrnes more than £1,500 over two years, the court was told.

Byrnes, Crimi-Appleby, and Arnold will be sentenced on Monday.

Gustavson has previously admitted charges including a conspiracy to commit grievous bodily harm and will be sentenced with others on 4 and 5 March.

He was handed two years in custody suspended for two years and 100 hours of unpaid work.

He was also handed 60 days of rehabilitation activity requirement and an alcohol treatment requirement.

The ringleader of an extreme body modification gang who had his penis and leg removed went into a 'spiral' after his marriage broke down, a court heard today.

Through his 'Eunuch Maker' site, Marius Gustavson and other 'like-minded individuals' carried out at least 30 mutilations on men that were livestreamed to 22,000 subscribers.

He kept a freezer full of men's body parts and cooked himself a testicle salad for lunch.

A series of photographs shown to the court during the sentencing hearing shows Gustavson preparing and cooking two testicles. The testicles are shown lying in individual tupperware boxes before they are seasoned and grilled on a skillet. The testicles were then cooked and fried with 'nuts, actual nuts, cashews, pistachios and the like', Ms Carberry KC

told the court. They were then plated with sliced cucumber, potatoes, chillies and other vegetables in an 'artfully arranged salad', she said.

On another occasion, on the 11th of February 2017, Gustavson texted co-defendant Ion Ciucur, 30, of his plans to cut off a man’s penis, which would be cooked by Gustavson’s friend and fed back to him. These incidents were 'clear evidence' of cannibalism, Ms Carberry said.

Judge Mark Lucraft KC praised the bravery of one of Gustavson’s victims for coming forward and being the only person to report the crimes to the police. He said that without the victim’s intervention, the group’s 'appalling activity may well have continued'. The victim, who cannot be identified for legal reasons, reported Gustavson to the police after he was sexually tortured with needles, clamps and a red hot branding iron. The court heard Gustavson branded him on his calf with an iron and later had one of his testicles removed and sewn back inside him.

Ms Carberry said police officers found Gustavson's penis 'in a drawer in his home four years after it had been amputated'.

He was also found to be in possession of bestiality pornography and had sent three indecent images of children to another man. In one message he claimed to have castrated and had sex with an eight-year-old.

He was convicted in Norway in 1999 for fraud committed against a housing cooperative he was the chair of. In 2001 he was sentenced to eight months imprisonment, partially suspended , for fraud in obtaining items over the Internet for which he did not intend to pay.

Rashvinderjeet Panesar, defending Gustavson, said the breakdown of his 11 year marriage in 2016 which had 'kept him stable', was a 'trigger' for his extreme activities.

"When it came to an end it sent him into a spiral," Mr Panesar said. "He had a desire to be the architect of his own body. His modification led him to feelings of empowerment. It appears at face value to be something that's become an addiction for him." The lawyer said Gustavson had been diagnosed with Body Identity Integrity Disorder, which accounted for his desire to have body parts removed. Gustavson had not participated in any body modification before the end of his marriage, Mr Panesar said. Mr Panesar said that Gustavson simply wished to 'put a smile on other people’s faces' and that he had an 'addiction' to body modifications.

In messages sent to Gustavson by another member of the website, they referred to eating 'sausages and garlic bread.' Gustavson replied: "Sweet. Yeah hmmm I have some sausages in my freezer but I'm not sure I can cook them LOL". The prosecution say 'sausages' was a reference to the severed genitalia Gustavson kept in his freezer. The messages also suggested Gustavson's own testicles had been eaten by another man. The man sent a text saying: "Your right nut was very tasteful and almost a bit sweet apparently LOL".

Gustavson was selling penises online and messages referred to him having 'c***s up for auction'. People would bid for penises before being sent the item along with a video of it being removed.

During a police raid on the South Wales home of David Carruthers 'testicles were found in a chest freezer', the prosecutor said. Alexander Greenwood, defending Carruthers, said the testicles found in his freezer were Carruthers' own. The sentencing hearing will resume on Thursday 9 May.
