Anyone else seen the new mermaid documentary on animal planet? I don't have links, but it premiered last night.

Cliffs of documentary:
-audio recordings of an unknown intelligent species communicating with dolphins
-navy sonar testing kills and washes up hundreds of whales and a few bodies of unknown species
-body found and examined
-body determined to be new species (genetic makeup similar to mermaid description
-obvious spearhead was found with body (hand carved handle with stingray barb perfectly fitted into handle, secured by plant thread from underwater)
-body mysteriously confiscated by government and destroyed
-former government workers come out anonymously and say that they (navy) caught one of the creatures live and were able to keep it alive for 3 years before it died
-explanation of the aquatic ape theory
-several different footages of the creature from all around the world
-different governments throughout the world taking different stances on the matter

Thoughts? I think it seems very plausible, they have a lot of evidence. There are also cave paintings in ancient Egypt where oceans used to be that depict humans on land shooting mermaids with bows and arrows. For those who didn't know, humans are already known to have hunted and killed off Neanderthals till extinction.

Hmmm

That video is at the beach where several whales washed up. The navy confronted those boys immediately when they showed up at the site (the 2 boys were the first on the beach) and convinced them that what they saw was a decayed seal. That particular animal in the video is the one that was kept alive for 3 years by the navy.

The idea behind the government hiding their existence:
The US navy has denied being responsible for mass killings of whales and other aquatic mammals for over 15 years because they were all dying from the navy testing sonar weaponry in the ocean. All of the whales found on the beach were bleeding from the ears. If the public knew there was another intelligent humanoid living amongst us that was being killed by the navy in order to increase the militaries arsenal, there would be an outrage. Think about how worked up people get over whales, let alone aquatic humanoids

Haha. I guess there is an undersea city somewhere?

Why would the government hide evidence of mermaids?

And it's merman.

After I watched 2 hours of the Yeti Monster Hunter Episode and CNN had "real" evidence of boogfoot only to look like fools, the only species we haven't found is fish, birds and bugs. I think we have come across every mammal in existence.

2 new species of whale that have lived on the earth for thousands of years, both averaging over 30 feet long were discovered in the last 10 years

I can understand the theory of our Gov't keeping info in regards to alien contact away from the general public, but it makes 0 sense why any info regarding Mermaids would be kept secret lol

is that video suppose to real or a reenactment?

either way it's not believable

The following are suggested as tools for testing arguments and detecting fallacious or fraudulent arguments:

Wherever possible there must be independent confirmation of the facts
Encourage substantive debate on the evidence by knowledgeable proponents of all points of view.
Arguments from authority carry little weight (in science there are no "authorities").
Spin more than one hypothesis - don't simply run with the first idea that caught your fancy.
Try not to get overly attached to a hypothesis just because it's yours.
Quantify, wherever possible.
If there is a chain of argument every link in the chain must work.
"Occam's razor" - if there are two hypothesis that explain the data equally well choose the simpler.
Ask whether the hypothesis can, at least in principle, be falsified (shown to be false by some unambiguous test). In other words, is isttestable? Can others duplicate the experiment and get the same result?
Additional issues are
Conduct control experiments - especially "double blind" experiments where the person taking measurements is not aware of the test and control subjects.
Check for confounding factors - separate the variables.
Common fallacies of logic and rhetoric
Ad hominem - attacking the arguer and not the argument.
Argument from "authority".
Argument from adverse consequences (putting pressure on the decision maker by pointing out dire consequences of an "unfavourable" decision).
Appeal to ignorance (absence of evidence is not evidence of absence).
Special pleading (typically referring to god's will).
Begging the question (assuming an answer in the way the question is phrased).
Observational selection (counting the hits and forgetting the misses).
Statistics of small numbers (such as drawing conclusions from inadequate sample sizes).
Misunderstanding the nature of statistics (President Eisenhower expressing astonishment and alarm on discovering that fully half of all Americans have below average intelligence!)
Inconsistency (e.g. military expenditures based on worst case scenarios but scientific projections on environmental dangers thriftily ignored because they are not "proved").
Non sequitur - "it does not follow" - the logic falls down.
Post hoc, ergo propter hoc - "it happened after so it was caused by" - confusion of cause and effect.
Meaningless question ("what happens when an irresistible force meets an immovable object?).
Excluded middle - considering only the two extremes in a range of possibilities (making the "other side" look worse than it really is).
Short-term v. long-term - a subset of excluded middle ("why pursue fundamental science when we have so huge a budget deficit?").
Slippery slope - a subset of excluded middle - unwarranted extrapolation of the effects (give an inch and they will take a mile).
Confusion of correlation and causation.
Straw man - caricaturing (or stereotyping) a position to make it easier to attack..
Suppressed evidence or half-truths.
Weasel words - for example, use of euphemisms for war such as "police action" to get around limitations on Presidential powers. "An important art of politicians is to find new names for institutions which under old names have become odious to the public"

Actually the clip u posted seemed edited in terms of sound and visual. Ie Cinematic effects

Beaked whales are completely different from a fake documentary on anal (lol thanks autocorrect/left for the lulz) planet. Watch the show again and look for the small print where it says this is not a real show.

And no, the website was actually seized by the US dept of homeland security just like thousands of others around a year ago when that big ordeal went on with controlling what is put on the internet
