Who had the most impressive win streak?

Fedor's win streak wasnt just undefeated, he didnt lose a single round, not even if you cut Pride 10 min rounds in half.

Jones has 3 fights were many thought he should have lost the decision in his "undefeated" run, none of that in Fedor's run after Arona literally months into his career.

Fedor looked far more vulnerable and was almost finished several times by much more primitive, one dimensional level of competition. While Jones had one moment where TRT Vitor nearly cracked his arm, it was an overweight pure kickboxer in Hunt who took down, top controlled and almost submitted Fedor which was far more unforgiveable. Arguably the best wrestler ever in MMA couldn't even TD or slam Jones while Randleman almost ended Fedor's life with that videogame slam. And then there's Fujita, more of a pro wrestler than a skilled MMA fighter, almost knocking Fedor out cold while nobody has ever managed to hurt Jones standing. Or the car mechanic in Rogers breaking Fedor's nose with a jab, reversing him and giving him a serious run for his money. Imagine the backlash if that happened to Jones.

I also love how you have to keep making these cutoffs in the time frames in order to give Fedor a bigger chance in this discussion. Like no the Arona fight doesn't count. And no the Strikeforce fights don't count even though he was obviously still in his prime. But Jones' entire decade and a half career can be used against him.

THIS !!!!!!!!!! There were 2 fights Jon won that I thought he lost .

Fedor.

10 years at HW undefeated is insane. No lucky punch slipped through, no off night, doesn't matter if the op was fired up, he went unbeaten.

It would've been Boner and he did have an absolutely amazing run, just couldn't piss clean for the life of him. Almost anyone but him would've been cut for doing half the ish he did. Even though he was juiced, it was an amazing run to see.

Sherdog is the defintion of pride never dies

Its obvious Fedor will be the favorite in any poll on this site

Its Jones, but Jones is a blatant cheater so, its Fedor?

Fedor did a lot of can crushing... but 100% took out a lot of very legit people.

Jones took down lot of "past their prime" fighters, but also had very legit top wins

By my comparison of top quality wins... I got Jones

Your need to use that device every time you pee clearly explains your choice.

Real men vote for a real man with no asterisks next to wins.

Sorry MW. Super Bowl, alcohol, just got carried away.

True

But you have to be on Overeem levels of juice to be caught twice, leaving the UFC to hire some shady doctor to blame "pulsing" as the reason Jones was caught again essentially giving him a get out of jail for free card

3 close fights versus 3 one sided losses.

I chose Jones cause Fedor had a few filler opponents in the new sport

Continuation to this thread.

The vote was so close in the other thread, that this needed a new thread to put them against each other 1 on 1.

Fedor Emelianenko - 27 fight win streak, that included successfully defending the HW title 5x.

Jon Jones - 19 fight win streak, that included successfully defending the LHW title 11x and also won the HW title.

Argument for Fedor Emelianenko to be your choice, he was small statured HW and fought in a weight class where you can easily lose to a KO. That's why a lot of LHW cut weight to fight at LHW to avoid fighting at HW.

Argument for Jon Jones to be your choice is he fought probably the most top 5 fighters in his long win streak. So he had higher more advanced competition.

Are we factoring in number of times busted for PED or no.

Firstly: Fuq the haters of either these legends!!

Second: I have great respect for both these amazing fighters, martial artists, athletes.

Now I shudder to elevate one over the other; however Fedor's legacy spanned uninterrupted over decades, through various promotions at their respective heights, with varying rule sets, across continents & cultural barriers. The example he set both in and "out" of competition is something we all should strive for and something we wish to cultivate for our children.

Fedor beat one dimensional heavyweights, then got knocked out by a middleweight. Truth hurts.

Really close one. Like a few have mentioned, these two are probably the finalists for actual MMA Goat.

Both fought juiced against juiced opponents. The only difference is that there was the IQ test known as USADA during Jones' time (which he failed a few times) which might have limited the PED usage slightly for all competitors.

While Fedor was the #1 fighter worldwide for a bit, Jones being the champ for so long in the top-flight MMA promotion meant that he had to fend of the most elite challengers who had had him in their sites the whole time he held the belt.

It's very hard to keep the title because you are the focal point, everyone is gameplanning for you even when they are matched up against others at the moment. It's why fighters like Conor didn't even want to try to defend, it's easier to formulate a gameplan for one fighter and one fight than to do that for multiple #1 contenders all with their own twist on how they will defeat you.

Another point for Bones is that he fought in an era in which MMA was more refined. MMA as a sport is so young that even 5 or 10 years can see massive evolution in techniques and strategies. Thus the top fighters are much better than their predecessors. Also, the science of nutrition and recovery are more developed these days as well as MMA infrastructure worldwide.
