Fighters Without Wikipedia Pages

Cool, I haven't made a wikipedia page in some time; mostly created some for wrestlers who have had some success. Maybe I will make one for Movsar Evloev closer to his fight - like the week of the fight - because it will be his third and he will be eligible after it.
Maybe you can do something with this page https://ru.wikipedia.org/wiki/%D0%9A%D0%B0%D1%82%D0%B5%D0%B3%D0%BE%D1%80%D0%B8%D1%8F:%D0%91%D0%BE%D0%B9%D1%86%D1%8B_%D1%81%D0%BC%D0%B5%D1%88%D0%B0%D0%BD%D0%BD%D1%8B%D1%85_%D0%B5%D0%B4%D0%B8%D0%BD%D0%BE%D0%B1%D0%BE%D1%80%D1%81%D1%82%D0%B2_%D0%B1%D0%B5%D0%B7_%D0%BF%D0%BE%D1%80%D0%B0%D0%B6%D0%B5%D0%BD%D0%B8%D0%B9 Абдурагимов, Алискеров, Алхасов, Колесник, Хирамагомедов is not unbeaten mma fighters.

Maybe you are interested/can do something here: Mihran Harutyunyan https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mihran_Harutyunyan you can add links to his sherdog/tapology profile in both English and Russian versions of article about him, Pascha Kharkhachaev https://ru.wikipedia.org/wiki/%D0%A5%D0%B0%D1%80%D1%85%D0%B0%D1%87%D0%B0%D0%B5%D0%B2,_%D0%9F%D0%B0%D1%88%D0%B0_%D0%A8%D0%B0%D1%85%D1%80%D1%83%D0%B4%D0%B8%D0%BD%D0%BE%D0%B2%D0%B8%D1%87 no mentions about his mma career while he is world HW champ in amateurs and you can add links to sherdog/tapology, Ali Isayev https://ru.wikipedia.org/wiki/%D0%98%D1%81%D0%B0%D0%B5%D0%B2,_%D0%90%D0%BB%D0%B8_%D0%98%D1%81%D0%B0%D0%B5%D0%B2%D0%B8%D1%87 sherdog/tapology links to Russian version and in English version of the article he labeled in categories as Azerbaijani mixed martial artist, maybe worth be adding him as a Russian? (also you can mention that he is a cousin of mma fighter Rashid Magomedov), Dmitry Minakov https://ru.wikipedia.org/wiki/%D0%9C%D0%B8%D0%BD%D0%B0%D0%BA%D0%BE%D0%B2,_%D0%94%D0%BC%D0%B8%D1%82%D1%80%D0%B8%D0%B9_%D0%92%D0%B8%D0%BA%D1%82%D0%BE%D1%80%D0%BE%D0%B2%D0%B8%D1%87 no mentions about his mma career so woulde be cool to add sherdog/tapology links.

Yeah, I can check them out soon, I haven't edited/created on wikipedia for a while haha, but will look at them sooner or later.

Also, do Ingush people write their names in Ingush language? Like they do in Ossetia/Dagestan?

If so, I think Chechen and Ingush are similar, but not sure just how similar.. do you know how to write Movsar Evloev's name in Ingush?

Wiki is very western centric, so far as I know you have to have fought multiple times for a 'major org' to qualify for a page, and a 'major org' is defined as UFC, Bellator, and, err, that's it.

So tonnes of badass fighters from eurasia are disqualified from having pages (which makes it funny whenever some casual critiques them for having fought 'nobody with a wiki page') and efforts to get them one will always fail because they don't meet the criteria until they start traening UFC, bro.

Thanks in advance!

No idea about Ingush language.

Also about Movsar -- Russian Wiki doesn't mentions that his brother Selem is also a mma fighter. And also I looked at Russian Wiki page about Tokov and they do not even mention that his brother Vladimir is also an mma fighter. Maybe that's information worthy enough to add, I don't know.

The reason they're the "major orgs" is because most of the top 25 ranked fighters in each weight class happen to be in those two organisations, with a sprinkling of talent from ONE, Rizin, PFL, KSW and ACB here and there (per Fightmatrix.)

Yeah, but who makes those rankings? mostly ppl in the USA who only watch UFC and Bellator. So, the circle completes itself ;)

Fightmatrix uses a computerised system, not a opinion based system. You can argue that it doesn't capture the nuance of the sport as well as a human but it's a more-or-less independent and fact based method of determining global MMA rankings.

Fightmatrix's system is only as good as the biases written into its algorithms (which are drawn up by humans).

For instance, it over-values being undefeated (= crushing a lot of cans) or holding a belt even in a worthless org, both of which can put you way above much better fighters toiling in a tougher org and losing more often as a result.

So, even a computer system shows the biases of its authors written into code.

Fightmatrix does make for some interesting/discussion worthy results but IMO it also shows opinion based lists are clearly much better on the whole which shows the 'unbiased computer system' is actually inferior to biased meatbags... ;)

Re-read my post, I already addressed this.

It's interesting that you suggest Fightmatrix's computerised system is inferior to human input, yet your post above that laments the neglect of eastern European and central Asian fighters by journalists who only express views that align with the western-oriented MMA world. The fact is, if being undefeated and/or holding regional titles imparted undue favour within the rankings, those exact fighters which you champion for would be more well received in such a system than would otherwise be justified.

But all of this is only tangentially related to the initial topic, which is what should be considered accomplishment enough to warrant creating a Wikipedia article about.

The only way to know which ranking is best is to see which one can best predict the winner of fights.

Or maybe to see which one wins a fight between a crack squad of Human MMA rankings makers and the Fightmatrix AI itself.

If you plan to contribute to that List of undefeated mixed martial artists on wikipedia, here is some undefeated fighters: Bakhtiyar Abdulloev, Artur Aliskerov, Gadzhimurad Gasanguseinov, Ramazan Kuramagomedov, Ali Magomedkhanov, Georgiy Shakhruramazanov (actually, I think his name is Gergi).

I was going to post this. He will after he wins next month.

As of Nemkov’s Bellator title win he is still a loser to two Wikipedia no links. I guess getting that call and UFC win doesn’t carry the fanfare it used to. Jiri should’ve hooked up with Team Fedor and got himself a wiki page.

https://ru.wikipedia.org/wiki/Борщёв,_Вячеслав_Георгиевич Вот он на шердог https://www.sherdog.com/fighter/Viecheslav-Borshchev-337895 а в википедии ничего нет про карьеру в мма.

Pretty busy these days so cannot really get to do many. I created Evloev's page, but someone already had it and took the info I gathered..

I think I could have a look at Borschev though, he may be eligible for an English wiki page.

Honestly, looking at fighters pages in Russian Wiki it looks like majority of them needs to get updated. For example, missing last fight on the record of Adam Khaliev, page of Islam Mamedov needs a lot of work. And thanks for your work.

I think you know something about wrestling, isn't wrestler Шамиль Ахмедов/Эрдоган also an mma fighter? Nothing about mma in Russian Wiki article about him.

You can just look at their sherdog page. If they don’t have a wiki they aren’t big league
