Francis Ngannou: Won't fight in UFC again under current deal after title defense

@Bojka Ngannou's claim in the video is the the five-year expiration clause is "global", by which I believe he means no other clause in the contract can override it. So beating Gane would not extend the contract beyond December under this interpretation.

If Ngannou crushes Gane as many here expect him to, we should get our popcorn ready. I'm very curious what approach Dana White would take if courts ruled that Ngannou is correct about the expiration. One thing I'm sure of is that Dana White would no longer adopt his recent stance of, "we don't force anyone to fight here, if you don't like your contract, you can leave." I really don't think he wants a repeat of Mayweather-McGregor.

He shouldn't fight under this deal again – this is the last fight on his contract. If he doesn't like the terms of his old contract, this is the time to negotiate a new one. He shouldn't fight again until they come to terms. If he fights under the terms of his old contract he assumes all of the risks. The UFC gets a heavyweight championship fight at a cut-rate and if Francis loses he loses all his negotiation power.

If he wins vs Gane, his contract is extended by 3 fights or a year but his existing contract also says that it can't be extended past 5 years in total – which would end Sept 2022. That gives them 9 months to come to terms but he shouldn't fight under the previous terms in the meantime.

I want to see him in the new A-Team movie playing B. A. Baracus. He's got zazz.

Dana said he threw the kitchen sink at Khabib and was shocked that he still chose to retire. Crazy how some other champs have to fight so much for more pay and might still get snubbed.

Khabib unintentionally promoted himself into a star....he didn't trashtalk or try to be someone he isn't (like Colby), his personality was interesting and fights were dominant enough that everything fell into place.

Why did he sign the last contract?

It was the best thing handed to him. No other promotion gave him a better offer. So he wins the belt and now thinks he deserves more, especially since Fury calls him out.

If Ngannou loses to Gane, there is no doubt Fury calls out Gane instead of Ngannou. Fury seems as if he just wants to beat the UFC HW Champ at his own game with UFC gloves on.

Take away UFC rules and use UFC gloves in a boxing match, Fury would annilate both of these guys. Fury is no joke, regardless of the words he spews.
He signed his last contract because that was the best option at the time. That contract is expired after the next fight. If he wins, are you saying he should accept the terms of his previous contract even though he has more leverage? If so, should the UFC have offered him more money on his previous contract even though they didn't have to?

Good luck somewhere else.

The UFC is NOT even taking care of the star fighters NOT named Conor, or Khabib..

So why would anyone want to fight in the UFC? Choose another sports kids..
You can’t just choose the sport you’re going to go pro in. Well, most people can’t.

Francis drives Mercedes G wagons, wears designer clothes travels the globe and appears to have a lifestyle in Cameroon, France and the States. How many here have that? Idk call me crazy but I’d guess he’s paid fairly well. It’s a 2 sided street you want them to pay you more money then go and sell the fight prove you’re a draw, and get that backend money. To those arguing he’s only getting PPV now, many fighters have come out and said they received locker room bonuses of big money for amazing fights or for bringing in tons of eyes. There’s ways to make money he just doesn’t seem to understand that. Also being active helps. Waiting around and not fighting kinda tends to have people forgetting about you.

Well this sort of bullshit kills the interest at a young age certainly. Whether they can make it all the way or not. Young kids that dream of playing in the NBA know if they make it fort Knox awaits. Not so much in the UFC.

He knows his value. Dana spent $1 million on his son's birthday party.

About time someone showed him what's up.
Does Dana even have anything to do really with fighter pay? Maybe in the zuffa days with the fertitas, but now under the wme overlords id bet he has zero to do with it, aside from special cases. They'd have teams of people handling all that.

If he wants to spend a million of his own cash on the kid, thats a personal decision. Its not like if they start paying fighters more they're gonna pay him less. His pay and spending habits have nothing to do with fighter pay

They will strip him and sit his ass. UFC contracts are garbage

He doesn't. UFC part of a public company with shareholders and they have a set amount of revenue to allocate to fighters. People are retards who think Dana owns the UFC and can't magically start allocating 50% revenue towards fighters. They don't understand how things work and WMG likes it that way because it just has people on karate forums get upset at a person who doesn't control things. Remember....Dana couldn't even hold Tony vs Khabib back in April 2020 because the bosses told him no.

All this should've been kept private between him & the UFC. Francis just seems like cancer to deal with, didn't even want to pay his former gyms membership fees.

You don’t think the prospect of making millions a year is enticing compared to alternatives? Again, they aren’t competing with the nba for talent and never will.

Francis is doing what he has to do to get the best deal he can next. He’s not walking away from this fight with 500k though.
