Gen-Z loses more money to scams than any other age group

Gen-Z fall for scams more than any other age group. You'd think they'd be more savvy to these things as they practically grew up on the internet

Even though Gen Z grew up on the internet, they never had to go through the same kind of internet hardship like the millennials. Back in my days we didn't have Spotify or Pornhub. To get music or spank material we had to use Napster or Limewire. The latest Blink 182 album or that rare Jenna Jameson anal scene you downloaded could very well be a nasty computer virus. The current generation grew up trusting the internet as it's been much safer than 15, 20 years ago, so maybe that's why they are falling for more scams

When you grow up being coddled and being told how awesome you are, you are an easy target for predators I guess.

Amazing. I definitely would have thought it was boomers. I’d like to see the data they used and the methodology though. But that should be fairly basic stuff.

I fell for one once.

A text by the "HMRC" saying that I had a £300 rebate and that I had to give details online. Website looked good too.

Then I thought about the rebate that I got years prior, done by letter. A brief check stated that the HMRC never give notifications by phone.

Nothing happened. I called Barclays straight after, told them and they monitored my bank account and cancelled my card.

Being desperate for money due to having to move did my head in for a bit...

I'd imagine the big factor is Gen Z ends up using the net far more than boomers hence is more likely to get scammed on it.

Perhaps also down to Gen Z being more likely to be in debt and getting caught up in credit scams.

It just happen that internet scam becoming widespread and everyone has a smartphone at the same time these young folks just started to have some disposable income. What I don't understand and find a bit concerning is that these NFT and crypto scams are so obvious yet they keep falling for it.

Gen z and certain millennials have a tough time coming to terms with the fact that if you want to be successful and make money you have to work hard and spend a good part maybe even your career doing something you don't actually like. It's a bitter pill to swallow and so when they see people making money having fun as influencers and at the same time being told they can live comfortably with just some bogus investment, it seems too good to pass up

When your parents do everything for you your whole life, you aren't prepared for the real world when you are finally alone. In my previous job, I would interview college graduates that never even had a part time job. EVER.. All they ever did was school and sports. Their resume had clubs and activities on them. I didn't even hire 1 of them. These kids didn't even know what to wear for an interview. I would hire someone with zero school but years of work experience over an educated spoiled twat.

I got scammed for the first time recently. I wanted to buy the new GUNSHIP album on the red cassette variant BUT their official site doesn’t ship to my area. So I googled it, coming up with an apparent Canadian website that seemed legit.

Long story short, it was not. At least I got my money back but felt like such an asshat.

alright, we get it! you still listen to music on tapes you're so0o0o keeeewl!!!

totally just joshin'ya. I'm a vinyl-dickhead and music nerd myself. that actually sounds pretty sweet. incredible you were able to get your money back, too. I'm surprised that those websites are still legal and can exist.

never heard of GUNSHIP but if they're worth getting almost scammed for I'll give them a go.

More proof that generations get dumber.

And before someone says, "every generation says that"

Yeah. I agree. And it's true every time. My generation is dumber than my parents generation. And they're dumber than their parents generation.

They even do worse than boomers, who barely even know how to use a computer

It's because gen Z has no critical thinking skills or common sense which helps to avoid a scam.

It's because it's harder to be financially stable now as a young adult than it has been in decades, and desperate people are easy to take advantage of.

I love scamming these kids.
