I'm no photography expert, but I think what's going on in original photo is that Poirier has way more bladed stance than the rest of the dude's so his head is tilted and looks way narrower than the heads of other dudes.

That or/and his weigh cut was really brutal.

In group photos the people in the middle almost always look smaller, and the people on the sides a lot bigger, due to lens distortion and being closer to the camera.

But besides that why are people so surprised? Dustin always was a shorter 5’8-5’9 guy but wide as fuck, and Chiesa is a narrow 6’1.
