I get that there are some things that a school doesn't want to be associated with (having AryanSexGod88 proudly stating that he is a blue belt at your school in his bio is a bad look), but profanity and sexual content? That better be some slurs and real deviant shit, the kind of stuff that causes me to cry in shame after coming to it, the kind that is illegal in most states.

I'd just leave on principle.

Its inevitable and the right move.
People dont exist in a bubble, and martial arts schools have a presence online. With social media becoming increasingly important to many, you can't expect to just publicly post whatever content you want and then expect to pretend its invisible when you come to training.

A school is a private institution, if they want to kick you out for that then that's their decision after they tell you to stop doing it.

BJJ though this is much more important since its a culture filled with casual drug use, conspiracy theories and sexual cases.
They fell from the Jigoro Kano standard, which Judo schools for the most part stlll maintain, long ago.

Jfc you’re so unhinged

Thee creonte letter is a bit out there, but I don't have a problem with them telling a member to tone down the social media stuff. Just as much as the consumer is free to choose to pay to attend a school, the school is also free to say no to your money and that they don't want to associate with you. I don't know for sure whether my gym has kicked anyone out for social media (I don't think so) but I know we have told a few people to tone it down

I understand further down thee track that they also said don't train at other schools and associate with members which is also trash, imo.

Yeah Im cool with them throwing dude outta school but to get on Joe and say that dudes cant train there is too much control. Its a free country and people can train wherever they want as paying customers. The martial arts world is a weird place full of weirdos. I mean its not normal to roll around with sweaty men and women outside of a porn movie set.

All I know for sure is, the digging your elbows into someone's thighs to open their closed guard is my move. I invented that. If I find out that anyone here is using that move without crediting me, I will ban you as creonte.

Looks like there have been developments!

While this Karen Gracie letter is hilarious, let's keep in mind that this letter came from Gracie Sports in Fairfield Connecticut which is different from Gracie Barra, Gracie Humaita, or (gag) Gracie Academy.

I can understand asking for a certain level of decorum from gym members and staff on any social media accounts that interact with the gym's facebook, instagram, etc in a public facing way.

But the creonte shit in this unrelated letter is retarded.

Eeeh I'd need more context. What was posted exactly? Was it offensivetowards other members? Does the individual coach there? If its just profanity and bikini photosthen then this is ridiculous. If you're heavily involved with the gym and include them in many posts then it is reasonable to have that discussion to some extent

Judo schools really are commendable when it comes to holding onto the old school martial arts principles.

They're dirt cheap and run pretty much on community work principles.
